I'm always amazed at the quality and consistency of your writing, composing and production skills...this is a lovely and tender melody coupled to beautiful lyrics...I think it's a great technique when a poignant word or phrase is repeated over and over to in the chorus or verse to bring home the heart of the song..."if you'd ask" is the heart and beats throughout...another great one Floyd (IMHO)!

Version 2013 shines.
Not the bells & whistles of subsequent versions but the core is precisely what a heart break requires.
As usual it's the superb voice singing a wonderful melody that makes the painful lyric live.
ACE.

Very intimate intro Floyd. Loved the bass and guitar framing your vocal. Really draws you in. Awesome production as always. Well done.

Why does she have to ask if you love her? Why didn't you just man up and tell her?

The song could have a great twist if the last chorus went:
"You didn't ask, is it too late to say I Love You"

grain of salt comment and I did like the song.

Thanks, Izzy. I'll blame all that on Bill.

This has a very sweet sentimental sound to it and a very nice mix. It kind of has sort of a Dan Fogelberg type flavor to it or at least that's what it reminded me of.

Nice job!

Glad you like the band.

Yeah, I'd hold your vocal high above the other standards. Your ability to write the best, relatable, pleasent-sounding songs with some terrific accompaniement and mix --well, there aren't any better. Best those others standards could achieve is side-by-side comparisons --and most opinions would be like mine. Ya ain't standard, sir; you're the high mark.

Much Appreciated, Marty!

Floyd and Bill, a classic country heartbreak song.
I don't know how you can come up with an outstanding song after outstanding song after outstanding song etc
Regardless this is another winner.

Inflection on "almost". Stunning smile

What a song. Well done to the both of you. Your vocals never disappoint, either. How you deliver ... that voice which sounds like it's been through the mill and come out wryer and wiser. A consummate professional, that's who you are. Bravo.

The accent of "in a heartbeat" ... smile The harmonies, too ... wow. Bravo!

Hi Floyd,

A remarkable 'love' song, crafted and performed with a conviction only you could achieve.
David Cuny wrote all about your lyrics I feel. It is exactly how - only you - can create this.
At least, that's how it seems. In any case, I can't do it that way. Not even in Dutch.

Love this line:

“if you'd ask about the future
i'd forget about the past”

Good collab, as always between you and Bill.

Excellent melody and vocals that had Janice singing along quickly. smile

2013 or not that is a great band and mix.

Nice!
