Bob, welcome to the forum. It sounds like you may have a transposition in effect.

Look to the left of the tempo (new GUI) or under # of choruses (older GUI) and find the letter that is the key of the song. Just to the right of the letter for the key, but within the same box, is empty space. Click on that space and make sure you select "Concert Key - No Transpose".

If that's not it, there are other things to check, including the fact there are several ways to set transposition and we'll have to work that out.

However, the easiest thing to do when in doubt is to go to the Options menu and select Return to Factory Settings, Most. Restart BIAB and see if that fixes it.

I assume you are running the Windows version. Please tell us what year your version of BIAB is, and what Build #. You can find this info in Help, About.
