Okay, I totally did this just to make people laugh, and I think it falls safely into the "parody" category because the chords are different, the chord progression is different and the melody is different, the meter is mostly different, and the syllabic count is mostly different, although in a few bars they are close.

However, if anyone thinks I have "gone too far" let me know. I see it as "reminiscent of" but tell me if I am wrong.

STAIRWAY TO SOMEWHERE

V1

I can see with my Druid eyes
That the green trees have not died
In the dark forests of old
In the Dragon’s Shire

And a new day will soon belong
For those who still still sing the sacred song
As they swim in the silver stream
Of believing

And the oceans will dream
Of a new world not seen
But reveals everything
We are thinking

OH…

Ch 1

So we’re searching the mist
For what is left there
And we’re dreaming of a stairway
to somewhere

V2

And we will meet at the June fair
In the sixth month of May
Though it makes sense to say
This has no meaning

But the jester will play
And the druids will pray
And the maids will give theirs
For the milking

In the mists of Avalon
The angel fairies sing a song
And they say that the evening
Is dawning

OH

V3

And the sky is upside down
And the queen wears the crown
Of the king who gave his
To the jester

OH

V4

So a bright light will surely shine
On the road to the Wizard’s shrine
Where the princess gives birth
To the morning

And then a new day will come
To those who come from
That dark castle we knew
Before forgetting

OH

SOLO

CH

Ch 2

So we’re searching the mist
For what is left there
And we’re dreaming of a stairway
to somewhere

So we’re searching the mist
For what is left there
And we’re dreaming of a stairway
to somewhere

dreaming of a stairway
to somewhere

There's a lot going on here musically.
Lyrically very imaginative too. You put some effort into it
Rest assured, David. It is different.
You sound like Neil Young going into the chorus.
Well did.

They spent their entire careers "borrowing"
This a nod and a tip of the hat.
And fully bathed in David Snyder.

A cool BIG sound.
And gettin' all Neil-ish at the end. He might come after you.

Good mix.
Well done.
Enjoyable.

Hi, David.

Ha! Well done! Except for the cadence and the title, it bears little resemblance but still points to the source material - more Tolkien than Led Zeppelin.

The only disappointment was the lack of a recorders in the arrangement. Now that would have been the cherry on top of the cherry on top. wink

Well, this may have been made for a laugh, but what a beautiful laugh it is indeed. Very interesting arrangement, and those guitars really sparkle. The fantastical lyrics are cool, and you crush the vocals. LOVE the guitar solo, too. And the mix is very open but full, if that makes sense. It's a real treat to listen to this...

Of course, I could have just said "epic and legendary!" because it is. But Bob got there first. smile

David, this is fantastic.
Loved those lyrics: how did you come up with them?
Great vocal and guitar
Super mix

David,

Well, I'm delighted that stairway found a detour to my ears. Gotta gree with the previous Neil Young references.

Big, powerful song with marvelous production and delivery. Never a disappointment with your music.

Best to you.

Hope Helene didn't wreak havoc in your part of NC. Our heart & prayers are with those who have suffered.

HA! Did Davd go too far? I always felt you were sufficiantly farout, man, and I gave up long ago the notion to catch up. Yet I follow you wherever your music is available. This is crazy good. I particularlyy like the guitar solo. Stairway to Somewhere. Yeah, I'll follow you there first.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hey David,

Well, I did have four bars of flute in the intro dude.

Why is my fan base so hard to please?

What do you people want? A triple album? A 15 minute guitar solo?? Leopard skin pants?

No just kidding man, thanks for the listen!

Sounds vaguely familiar.... there's 4 notes in a row, and Mr Harrison only had 3 in a row..... litigation incoming....

What I have been unable to do to this point due to assorted and sundry other reasons, is to rip it or grab it and play it backwards in order to uncover the hidden demonic messages that are obviously lurking in the bowels of this composition. I'll save that for another day. With the warped mental thought process that you are known for, there are indeed some unique things in this.

You never fail to amaze.

Uh oh, Janice thinks Bud is having a flashback. 🤣

Far out, David!

As floyd said, "And gettin' all Neil-ish at the end. He might come after you."
Be careful.

Fun!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
