Hi ,

I am using the latest VST 64 bits plugin for BIAB 2022 feeding a VSTi soundfont player (latest TX16Wx VST 64 bits) , host is latest Reaper 64 bits.

I found that when hitting either Play or Sync into the BIAB plugin GUI , midi controllers like program change , volume, pan, ... are sent on one midi channel only.

Sending these controls with Reaper ReaControl plugin (on the same track than BIAB plugin) works fine , so I don't think it is a Reaper setting issue.

Is it a known issue, and does upgrading to BIAB 2024 could resolve it ?

Hi Gegu.

I don't have the answer, but if you broached this to PG Music Support (support@pgmusic.com), they may be able to give you a definitive answer, especially in relation to version number that you are using.

No answer from PG ...

Tried with Bidule host instead of Reaper , same issue

It seems that only the Soloist track sends midi control messages.

gegu.

heres an alternative way of working.

i use realband with reaps....tons of track midi and audio generation options in rb.
it comes with bb.
also rb has a huge midi feature set.
See the manual for rb on your shipped pg content and pg vids on this site.

so what i do is generate tracks in rb then drop them into reaper.
btw im a reaper user from version 0.99.
but i use it lesser and lesser these days due to rb getting more features.
ive done too many songs to list over the years useing bb/rb/reaps.

your tx plugin should work in rb...run tests.
see my tips re realband in the pg tips forum....also check out a fabulous list of plugins that are free that work in rb. its all in tips.
hth.

happiness.

om

(90 songs created useing bb/rb)
(lots of tips of mine in pg tips forum.)

Hi ,

What I'd like is using only Play or Sync for jamming (without dropping) on ninjam.

Thanks anyway

I've tested both the 2022 and 2024 plugins in Reaper, and ReaControlMIDI showed various CC's sending to different channels - everything seemed to be working fine. Can you check that? Also, what version of BIAB and the plugin are you using? You can find that in BIAB by going to Help > About (build number is next to "Version 2022)" and in the plugin by going to File > About.

I also downloaded TX16Wx and it seemed to be working properly, though I'm not at all familiar with it.

Hi ,

First my apologizes , I forgot that you gave me some hints on your acknowledgement message

My BIAB 2022 version is Build 927 , and my VTSi plugin version is 4.8.13 (64 bits)

This is example of the issue (new Reaper project with only BIAB and RealControlMIDI) : only control messages for channel 8 are sent ( soloist track ...) when hitting Play or Sync into the BIAB plugin GUI
Others channels contains only Note On / Note Off messages

Btw , changing the channel for the working track (Soloist) sends control messages on the new selected channel as expected (for example channel 9 instead of 8)

Interesting, I'm using the exact same version as you, but I'm not able to duplicate this problem. Does this still happen if you use a new blank song in the plugin as well? No chords entered, just Generate then play/sync?

In ReaControlMIDI, if you uncheck "log all notes/sound off" that should limit the display to just CC messages and note-off messages while playing - try the above test with the first chord entered as C... to enter a rest, then ReaControlMIDI should show more of the CC messages without the display getting flooded with notes.

Same issue when generating a new blank song (program change and other control messages sent to one midi channel only)

I have tried also with the BIAB plugin loaded into the Bidule DAW and uninstalled LoopMIDI (virtual midi ports) to be sure

Maybe a BIAB plugin setting issue ?

Forgot to mention that my bbw4_64.exe version is 2022.0.0.927 (size : 57,931,680 bytes)

As you know , this application is run by the BIAB plugin

I must have missed this somehow, but it seems like the 2022 version of the plugin does not send CC's on the correct channels when pressing play in the plugin, but it does if you use sync. Can you try that?

I can confirm that it does work correctly with Reaper and Bidule only when using sync , otherwise program change for only a single midi channel is sent

BTW , with Reaper ,using the BIAB plugin into a separate process (Reaper setting) does not seem to work, even when using sync

Ok, that much is good at least. I've tested in the latest version of BIAB and it works both with Play or Sync, so it seems to have been fixed at some point.

That also happens with the 2024 version. Probably best to set the BB plugin to automatic.

Ok , thanks

The reason for using the BIAB plugin into a separate dedicated process is for avoiding crashing the entire DAW, as I do for another plugin

I will try with "separate" process instead

But eventually I will upgrade to BIAB 2024.

At this point, you may consider waiting a little longer and upgrading to BIAB 2025. Just a thought.

Just a remark : bank select is not sent for channel 10 (usually drums) , so I have to send it separately ( Bank MSB 1 / Bank LSB 0) in order to have drums loaded

Also , Bank select and Program change messages at sent several times (maybe normal for certain songs ?)

If it were me, I'd likely wait for the introductory-pricing 2025 version, buy that, but only upgrade to 2024 until the worst of the 2025 bugs are fixed. Unless, of course, there's some really compelling "must have" in 2025.

Yes, the underlying intent of my post was to get the 2025 introductory price, (presuming one might be available, as per previous years).

Bank select can be sent for drums if you set up a patch map for your synth: https://www.pgmusic.com/tutorial_bbwpatchmap.htm

Those are usually sent when the song repeats, depending how and where you set the patch. If you're using Bar Settings, you can set Program/Bank changes that are either "All choruses" or a specific chorus, and if you use All Choruses then the change will be sent every time the chorus repeats that bar.
