I think it may have come out a little too busy, and something just sounds off to me. If you decide to give 'er a listen, feel free to pick it apart and let me know.

I think you perhaps answered your own question Brad but read on.

You are probably familiar with that old tidbit of wisdom "Don't bore us, get to the Chorus". Well you went one better and opened with the Chorus with great effect. (at least I think it is the chorus). I liked it.

The lyrics are inspirational and uplifting but the tempo (144 ?) kinda lessened my ability to properly absorb and contemplate them. I actually slowed your song to 125 and suddenly the tension was replaced with a more relaxed and enjoyable listening experience.

And yes I would agree with your thoughts that "it may have come out a little too busy"
I'm a sucker for idioms :
Alan Perlis, a pioneering computer scientist said “A fool adds complexity while a genius subtracts.”
Jory Vinikour, a prize-winning harpsichord performer said “The silence is as important as the notes”
"Less is more".................Yada yada yada.........
These principles are handy to keep in mind to resist the temptation of over contructing DAW/BIAB tracks, imo

Now the praise:
The song has a very strong melody which is memorable long after a listen. I found the chord progression clever and interesting and was impressed with how you got so much melodic variety out of B A & G. You have a very good Country music voice. Lyrics are heartfelt and enlightening. In a nutshell I would love to hear a slightly slower and sparser mix of this wonderful song.
