First of all, THANK YOU to EVERYONE who commented on my last effort, the Brahms arrangement. I've been away from the forum for a little while, and (although I did read and take on board everyone's comments) didn't get to thank everybody - and I don't want to bump up the song again, so ... thanks smile

Here's something I cooked up the other day ... it's a little experimental, to say the least, but see what you think. It's either useless, mediocre, or a masterpiece, of that I'm sure wink

A New Start

See what you think? smile

James, like what you've done here. Solid instrument choices, interesting changes/modulation, cohesive arrangement. The challenge (for me) with long BiaB instrumentals is finding the musical narrative with the lead instruments. This is especially noticeable (to me) with longer pieces. So I'd say this is much better than "mediocre" but short of a "masterpiece". Enjoyed my listen!

Hi, James.

It's genius! Genius, I tell you! wink

Well, not quite. But it's certainly listenable, and it's got some of your signature chord changes to boot.

Like Ron, I enjoyed my listen as well.

A nice track, James. Good mix - all instruments are bright and clear.

James,

That was a great listen. I particularly like the organ. A really nice sound and completely pulls the track together. Mix is excellent as well.

So nicely done.

Your mixing skills, as well as your vocal recording chops, have really improved.
This, as mentioned, has some of your signature changes despite the different sounds. I think you did a fab job.

Cheers

DC Ron: thanks for listening! This was never going to be a "masterpiece" smile - and you're spot on, it's hard to keep someone's attention in an instrumental which lasts as long as this one does. That said, I'm really happy you still enjoyed listening to it - that's what matters to me smile Thanks again!

David Cuny: haha!!! I'm glad you enjoyed listening to it, genius or otherwise wink

floyd: thanks. Really glad you liked it!

Bob: thanks for listening! I'm particularly glad you liked the organ, as that was the hardest thing to do (I found) in this piece ... it kept veering off the chords I wrote, underneath its solo! smile So, if you like it, it means I did a good enough job of making it make sense smile Thanks again smile

BYOBand: thanks smile Did my best to make "diners" happy! smile

Ray: thank you. Just had to write something a little bit more complex than my usual, albeit, as you say, with my "signature progressions" thrown in. Next, something simpler and more melodic, I hope. Let's see ... but thank you so much for listening and for taking the time to comment! smile

Hi James,

Yes this is a new start for you and it is a very good start.
Interesting but excellent chord progression for a blues song - brilliant.
To nit pick what I found lacking was a common lead line, experience talking as I have been there done that myself.
Great mix - gotta love a song with a B3 in it!
I really enjoyed this.

I like the way it starts and then the organ kicks in to lift it.
Nicely mixed, James.

HI, James. Thought I lost ya, man. Yesterday I seached the members list and freaked when I couldn't find James Delsono. Duh! Man, this is such a well written piece. This could be a standard for after-hour jams where only the most capable musicians show up to play. This one can only be considered in the great, greater, greatest debate. I listened and the more I learn about you the more I thought that was you playing the organ solo. Loved it, musician17.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Great stuff James. Really liked it. It's different than your usual, but still has those signature cord progressions of yours. I really liked how you pulled this one together. You kept it interesting throughout and I thought it was a great mix.
