Beautiful song, and I like the softness of your vocals.
Very well sung, and very well played.
And, of course, a killer outro smile

Good thing we'll never know when it's our last...

Hi, Marty.

An upbeat approach to a downbeat topic. Your vocals carry the tune the song, with cheerful backing.

Clever ending! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks, Paul. Yeah, the banjo really makes the song move along when it came in for the 2nd verse.

Thanks, Brad. So much more fun and better results crafting instrument tracks, especialy solos, where we now have the ability to create them or correct them measure by measure.

The fiddle worked well and the banjo was a nice subtle addition.

We loved this:
“Goodbye to trees and rocks that grow with them.
Goodbye to the seas and the clouds in the sky.
I love what you gave me in colors and rhythm.
I bow to all my last goodbye.”

Excellent song to end the album with!

Thanks, Janice & Bud. The lyrics were already written somewhere inside. This one comes from personal exerience, I guess, whereas most of my songs are made up stories or attempts at clarifying thoughts.

Never a disappointment when I click onto your music - nothing but smiles and pure enjoyment.

Thanks, Alan. It's cool how everyone is noticing the impact of the banjo.

Enjoy whatever happens!

That first verse had a 50s/early 60s feel and transform nicely into a folksy sound. You created a nice melody here. I like the down home feel of the song. Neat ending too.

Thanks, David. Gotta know where that downbeat is. smile The backing band and I (especially me) were trying to convey the happiness of life rather than the sadness of departure.

Thanks, Scott. Stay tuned. At the end of this one I did another called My Old Country with a nod to what it was like growing up in the 50s and 60s.

Great write, another delicious dessert to make me smile! Nice story, the sad sounding title is turned into a beautiful anthem of gratitude.

Enjoyably gentle band, your sweet bass and warm voice are in pleasant balance with the calming melody.

Clever way to end your song and the whole album which is one of the higlight releases of this fall. I'm of course waiting for a sequel to reveal what will follow after your last last laugh But before that, I'll listen to the last album all over again.

Sad lyrics, set against a happy jig of a song. I like your arrangement ... the way you started slow, and brought the instruments in. Good vocals, mix and production on this as well. Funny, I recently posted a song called At the First Hello ... so now we have both Hello and Goodbye.
NICE !!!

Marty...this excellent!! you never cease to amaze me with the diversity of music you write and produce...you know I lean toward acoustic based music and when this began I was so thrilled by that acoustic strum...great mix and tempo...and great lyric and sentiment...I love everything about this! and the ending is perfect...oh by the way...Goodbye (but not my last one...if the Lord wills)...hear you later my friend.
