Well i did some study of this and like so many other "puter" things, it all comes down to configuration. But remember I told you that this is what I like so maybe that is why this card is working so well for me. Turns out that much of the fuss is about the lack of flexibility of the M-Audio control Panel - seems much less routing options then in previous, XP versions of the applications.

By the way my monitors are attached to the "Main Outs" and not the "Monitor Outs" for all my recording.

I also have a Sampson C-Control - Control Room Matrix which allows me to mix and match multiple outputs from my computer. With this I can run, mix and match (without rewiring) my internal SoundCard, as well as the monitors or mains of the M-Audio just with the push of a button. But this is not necessary for the current discussion.

Good Luck, it is a great card (no audible latency when recording) when it is configured correctly and when it is doing the things you need it to do.
