Link: Wrong

This is not a "beautiful" song.

There was a nice, quiet and gentle girl in elementary school who grew up in an orphanage.
I didn't see her for a few years after that time.
The last time I met her, I was about 19 years old and she approached me in my local pub and asked to stay overnight at my place because she was on the run from her p*mp.
After that day, I never saw her again.

This song is not for those who grew up in the wrong house on the wrong side of the wrong street.
It's for those who grew up on the wrong side of life and never had a chance.
For Maria!

As always, a BIG thank you to Marty for lyrical support and for generally being a great guy to talk with.

Some technical information:
Style: TINES.STY

The band:

Bass: 4363
Drums: BluesRockEv
Guitar: 4383, 4386, 4387, 4388, 2x3931 and me
Piano: 1533
Vocals: Goldmania Bella

You can find the lyrics in the next post.

Title: Wrong

(Intro)
I'm wrong
Feel wrong
Think wrong
Do wrong

(Chorus)
I always seem to do it wrong
One step too late, one breath too long
Way too long
Way too long
I reach for hands that push away
Eyes that betray
Each choice is wrong
I fall behind
I lose my mind

(Verse)
Too much fright to get it right
I chose a path but lose my way
The future's gone before the past
Too fast to last

(Verse)
There seems no place where I can hide
Every time I try, I seem to fail
To fail on a larger scale
I fail, I'm frail, I fail

(Chorus)
I always seem to do it wrong
One step too late, one breath too long
Way too long
Way too long
I reach for hands that push away
Eyes that betray
Each choice is wrong
I lose control
I lose my mind
Lost

(Verse)
I’m tired of waiting for the sun to rise
The sky won’t change, and neither will I
Hope is a lie, and so am I
I've lost my way, all colors are grey

(Bridge)
How can I fight when hope is gone?
Where can I go when I am alone?
I walk this path, but never feel
That it is real

(Chorus)
I always seem to do it wrong
One step too late, one breath too long
Way too long
Way too long
I reach for hands that push away
Eyes that betray
Each choice is wrong
So wrong, so wrong, so wrong, so wrong, so wrong

(Outro)
I am a simple mind that falls behind
Not fast enough
Emotionally blind
Emotionally blind
Blind
Blind
Blind
Behind
Wrong

B.D., this is a SUPER song. LOVE the driven ballad style and powerhouse vocals. The tradeoffs between the wall of guitars and piano are pretty cool, too.

Know the inspiration is a sad tale. Am reminded of PIcasso's Guernica, and the transformation of pain into something beautiful but still sad...

Nice job!!

B.D.

A marvelous composition - powerful and hard-hitting.

Sad Drama - Hard Life - Dark Fate. - No Chance.

Well-conceived and executed. You make good music

(An aside: In a day or two, I'm going to post a hard rock guitar instrumental I did about 10 or 11 years ago using the same BIAB style. In fact, I found that song and another one in an old folder. I'll post them a few days apart. I have 3 old laptops with Windows XP on them - I found that folder on one of them.)

Again, this is excellent music. That's just what you do.

Alan

Gloups!
It's a work of goldsmith, very accomplished and, above all, it sounds like a true pro!
Excellent in every aspect: composition, arrangements, vocals, mix and mastering. Well done!

Brian, this is an outstanding song that should be in a musical!
Great dynamics and arrangement.
Powerful vocal and backing tracks.
IMHO this is your best to date.
Loved it.

Doc-take it easy John this is just a sharp scalpel. It will not cut deep so don't worry.

Thanks, Ron.
I wasn't quite sure if this style would work for others.
It's sad that sadness is such a great inspiration.
There's too much of it these days...

You nailed it as per usual, excellent in all aspects! Very sad backstory, and of course it's real for many people.

Reminds me of the cool production songs like Meatloaf and others did. Man, you are so good at these synth vocals. Excellent production. There is so much in there to enjoy and you masterfully bring out what needs to be heard when it needs to be heard. Terrific dynamics throughout too.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Brian,

Wow. Big. Bold. Killer.
An excellent Rock write. Both lyric and melody. A sad, gritty story, but does not get maudlin.

A stunning production. An Amazing Big Rock sound.
Piano used well. Guitars are perfect.

Good Music.

VERY cool.
Something about it reminds me of Scorpions around the In Trance album era....I don't know why - may be dynamics or the vocal phrasing, (?).
COOL thing with lots of build.

Cheers

This is a great song. With soft and then more powerful passages. I take my hat off to it.

Last night I posted the first of the two songs: Bring It On Sucka!

I'll post the other one when this one falls off the first page.

Thanks a lot, Vic, I'm especially pleased with your feedback on the lyrics, because that's usually my weak point.
