Multiband compressors can be amazing in the hands of the experienced, but it's also easy to screw up a mix with them ( what you definitely NOT did).
I don't usually use them on the 2-bus, but for distorted guitars they are my number one tool.

Thanks for ALL you said … makes it all worthwhile. The Waves LinMB is designed for mastering. And, man, you are right in that often the slightest tweaks will drastically change the sound - sometimes not for the better. It’s worth reading about as it is very different from the others I’ve used - primarily Ozone’s Dynamics
