Thanks for the comments, BD.
Still learning the settings configurations on the new effects.
On the vocals, I have minimum settings on a delay and very low settings on reverb now. I hope it’s worked.

Thanks for the observations, Ray.
I have trimmed the FX substantially now.
As I mentioned before, I found it difficult to understand the new FX on this new DAW.
I am gradually getting to grips with it, hopefully. One of the mistakes I made was putting them in the wrong chain order.
Another mistake was not getting what the settings meant. I found my Sonar DAW much simpler to understand.
You may ask why did I change. The answer is because it was there.
Once more into the breech.

Vic,

I've listened to this a few times over the last week. I agree with the earlier comments that the effect on the vocal were too much. Not sure how many times you have tried to address it, but listening to this right now, it seems to me the effects issue has been resolved. That said, I'm still wishing the vocals can come forward a bit. You have too soulful a voice to hide it, and it seems just a tad hidden to me. Love the acoustic lead riffs. Not sure what it is about the vocal . . . somewhat muffled . . . dunno.

But production nits aside, this is a tremendously beautiful song . . . outstanding . . . and it's given life by the heartache and soulfulness of your voice. A lot of depth and emotion in the vocal. So well done!!

Vic, this arrangement is outstanding.
This is a fantastic story set to music.
Fantastic backing band and mix.
One of your best.

Thank you Deej for having a close listen.
I don’t know why this one is being so elusive but I’ll keep working on it.

"Of people soon forgotten who hide between the pages of our dreams." Great line, glad you ended the song with that line - it was worth it. Really good, halcyon song with the perfect vocal. Well done.

Thank you Bob.
Yes, I pondered over that line for a while.
Some days it made sense and some days it didn't.

Very mature songwriting for a 3rd song. Many memorable lines, I especially like " I took your hand and we ran off to where our future lay". Maybe bit sad, but the arrangement and the chords give lightness and positive vibe. Strong vocals bring the story fully alive.

Vic,

I get what you mean about a new Daw! I used to be a Pro Tools guy but very tired of it "fighting" with me! I switched to Studio One and haven't looked back because it's so much more intuitive and suits my needs just fine!
Your song is an excellent write and production! The vocals are spot on and the backing you have assembled sounds perfect to me for this very nice singer-songwriter production!

Take care, TB

Hi Vic,

Your music is always mov1ing emotionally. You know how to write and tell a story. And you have a great voice for your style.

At this point, everything sounds about right in this version.

I enjoyed it very much!

Hi, Vic.

Sounds good!

As others have said, excellent write.

It seems you've resolved the issues with the vocal FX.

I hope you work out the issues with your DAW. There are lots of DAWs out there. They all do the same thing and sound the same, but the UIs emphasize different philosophies. It's worth the time to find something that matches the way you think, if that struggle keeps up.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
