Hi Roycol.

Thank you for having a listen. I was quite amazed how easily this poem set the pattern for what developed. It was a worthwhile exercise! Synthesizer V is quite amazing in what it can do. Now that I'm a little more comfortable with the software, it feels like the sky is the limit. Having the ability to assemble female vocals has given my songwriting a whole new dimension.

Thanks again from dropping in.

Noel,

The Users Forum is always a bit better place to visit when you make an appearance.

Such a beautiful piece! You have a special way with music. I love the simplicity of the backing tracks—everything it needs and not a hint of the unnecessary. You literally make music sing at its best.

Simply gorgeous.

Alan

Hay Ray.

Thank you. I'm glad you had time to take a listen. I actually did a recording of this with me singing this. I needed to work out how to get through the longer phrases. I hear what you say, though, because I had to make sure that I planned my singing and mapped out where I could take a large breath and a smaller quick breath to get through. It's clever of you to pick that up. I'm loving working with Synth V. It really has opened a whole heap of doors for me.

Thanks again for the visit smile

Did you do something to add effects to the Natalie vocals? They sounded a little more "warm" than some other uses I have heard here, in a good way. Maybe it is the range you chose. Just wondering.

Anyway I really loved this. Great production and mix.
Hi David.

I appreciate your visit. Thank you. I tried to create a warm sound within Synth V as I modelled the vocals. When I was done, I imported the rendered vocal file to Reaper and then applied Nectar 3 to it. That helped polish it up a little more. The mix was then run through Ozone 10 and I used presets that had the "vintage" plugins (they're always favourites of mine). I'm sure that helped as well smile

Thank you again for passing through smile

This is a wonderful example of “less is more” and is simply beautiful.

Natalie’s voice is perfect for this and her humming part was such a delightful interlude.
Janice has always been a big fan of EBB’s poetry and she is looking forwarding to sharing your song with her sisters during the holidays.

You said, “Honestly, I like tinkering with Synth V's vocals. I find it fun.”
It’s great you're having fun because reading your workflow about how you created such a fine production would intimidate a lot of folks!
Including us. smile

Loved it!

Hi David,

Thanks for finding the time to drop in. I appreciate your visit and your comments. It is lucky for me that Natalie is a very well trained singer whose ability to breathe is unparalleled smile On a more serious note, though, prior to passing the song over to Natalie, I made sure that it was possible to map breathing locations at appropriate times. As mentioned earlier in the thread, I did a recording of me singing it originally, and too get through the long phrases, all I needed to do was to have the old-fashioned breath marks notated on the lyrics. t was an interesting exercise collaborating with EBB. I enjoyed the experience!

Thanks again for your listen and comments.

Noel,

The song is about deep love, sung over simple accompaniment, and is very moving.
Synthesizer V Natalie's vocals also fit this song well.
The beautiful melody does not require any extra accompaniment.
It is gorgeous enough on its own.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

When I read this, I thought wow, what an ambitous undertaking. You did a great job with this. You have such a good voice, could you not have sung it? Really impressed with what you did, as someone else said, "a masterpiece."

Hi Mario.

I always appreciate your visits to my threads. Initially, I started with a fuller band to support the vocals, but I couldn't get it to sit right. It was because of this that I stripped the arrangement back to just a solo guitar. That worked okay, so then I thought I'd add second guitar. The second guitar seemed to be all that was needed. The shaker came along as a way of introducing some musical contrast. I'm glad the vocals worked for you. I think I'm finally getting the hang of SynthV.

Once again, thank you!

Hi Deej.

It's good to see you. Thank you for the smile that you gave me when I read through your comments. Thanks, too, for mentioning the 'fireflies' line. While verse one was a reproduction of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's first four lines of the sonnet, verse two and beyond was based on using her ideas and thoughts to stir my imagination and to create lyrics that, hopefully, resonated with the overall character of the poem. Interestingly, it was her first four lines that also set the ABBA rhyme scheme that I used (although my BB rhyme occurred more as an internal rhyme in my lyrics).

I appreciate your visit. Thanks again.

Cool stuff. This started playing after I listened to another user's tune.....

Natalie has an almost male/unisex quality to her voice. I kinda liked that aspect.

Well done and the simplicity is what carries this

An interesting coincidence: I had a dream recently where a young woman was playing an acoustic guitar and singing "in eternity" and I've been trying to figure out the rest of the theme. Your song nicely captures one aspect of it, now I have to find another angle smile

Janne
Hi Janne.

It's a pleasure to see you visit. Thank you. That's a spooky coincidence! I hope it leads to a song for you smile

I must say that I really, really love Synth V and the ability to find a voice for the different types of music that I write. I did record this song with me singing, but it honestly sounds so much better when Natalie sings it. Synth V also lets me shape the way the voice sounds and the variations that occur as the performance progresses. As you know, it's such amazing software.

By the way, I recently heard that Mt. Korvatunturi in Finland is said to be the home of Santa. Is this true?

I hope you have a terrific Christmas and great New Year.

Hi Noel
Impressive song
To present a song with so few instruments in this way takes a lot of skill.
But then to work with an artificial voice as well.
Hats off Noel. That turned out fantastic!
Wishing you and your loved ones a great and healthy 2025
Andi ;-)
