… And even formating the drives does not remove all possible virus issues… Billy Now that surprises me.

Yes, Matt. A virus can hide in the BIOS or UEFI, in the firmware on your keyboard, and firmware on your hard drive which does not get changed when formatting.
I assume this is pretty rare and I have only seen it myself on the BIOS of one computer in a 150,000 node network at the bank I worked for.

Get 2tb. Clone your existing c: partition to it. You should get right where you left of with space doubled. You might need to "extend" drive. Or format blank partition and use it as second drive. (each partition - separate drive) Label old 1tb with date, keep it as backup. I've done this a few times.
NI stuff, if you decide to move. Default location: C: > Users > Public > Documents
Select instruments you want to move, CUT and paste where you want them. Launch Native Access. Refresh (there is a button there). Your moved instruments icons (in native access) will have exclamation marks with drop down menu with couple of options. One will say something like "relocate " just point to the place where you moved these instruments.
P.S. I made 2 partitions on my drive. (became 2 drives). One is active, C: Windows, programs etc and one is just for NI and other libraries.

Thanks for the ideas. I have four TBs of installed drive space beside the C drive. I just need to move things from C to those drives.
I want to do a complete refresh of the system to include formatting the drives and installing a clean OS. I just want to put that job off for a while if I can.
After moving some stuff, about 100 gigs off the C drive everything is working properly. I deleted a bunch of stuff from NI but I can reinstall it at any time.
Thanks,
Billy

So now the issue is to delete all the NI stuff and see if I can figure out how to put it on the correct drives. Some of it needs to be on the C drive. There is a place in Native Access to do all this if one is smart enough to figure it out.
Billy You should have the NI installation manager on the computer. This gives you access to your account and the software you have purchased and they show as registered to your name. You should be able to easily access that software to reinstall on any computer. You might have to "release" the current license first, unless they allow installation on a certain number of machines that you own. Release the license if necessary, remove it from the computer completely, and then reinstall it using the location of your choosing on the new install. You also get the most recent updates when you do this. It's been a while since I did my NI install. But it should be a fairly straightforward process.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
