I don’t know so much about VST3. I have only used some VST3 plugins in my DAWs and they have all worked fine.
But now when we have VST3 support in BIAB I was about to test some of VST3 audio plugins in BIAB.
Are there any limitations on what to expect?
Should expectations be that all VST3 audio plugins that I can use in my DAW also should work in BIAB or are there some limitations that only some plugins should work?
I was just doing a simple tests on a audio track in BIAB.
First I tried it out with the master stem track and then I tried it again with another audio track and loaded a new audio file to it.
In both cases I selected my Melodyne Assistant 5.4.2 VST3 plugin.
It opened ok but did not load the audio from the audio track so I could not use it.
Question is should I expect Melodyne to work or not in BIAB or are there any configurations required.
Then I opened another audio VST3 plugin, EZMix3 and that seemed worked fine on the audio tracks.

Good question. There was an informal survey request for plugins that worked, and plugins that did not work, but I don't know if the results were compiled or what they might mean. I think since these are early days for VST3 support, PG Music Support would benefit from having you report your observations directly to them.
If others know more, chime in.

It is expected that most VST3 plugins should work correctly in BIAB - we are working on full compatibility, however Melodyne uses a technology called Audio Random Access (ARA), and currently BIAB does not support ARA.

It is expected that most VST3 plugins should work correctly in BIAB - we are working on full compatibility, however Melodyne uses a technology called Audio Random Access (ARA), and currently BIAB does not support ARA. Even though I use Melodyne Studio quite a bit for all kinds of uses I really never thought about its uses inside of BIAB. I suppose if it were implemented right you could manipulate notes with the actual tone of the instrument quite simply on a real track. Even the DAWS that did not support ARA at the time could use Melodyne. They had to transfer the data into Melodyne and work on the Melodyne track and transfer the track back into the DAW. Of course this did make it a much slower process. Most DAW's now days do support ARA of course.
