Nothing for a long while, and then two songs in quick succession. Sorry smile

Those who know me well know that I have a massive passion for classical music - and especially the works of J. S. Bach. I thought I'd arrange his Andante (from his Sonata No. 2 for Solo Violin), for (hopefully smile ) your enjoyment.

The piano solo part is exactly what Bach wrote for the solo violin part (just transcribed for piano, here, obviously) - that's all he wrote, not a note more or less than that. The rest of the piece (the drums, etc.) is BIAB, at my request smile

See what you think? I'm sure you'll be in awe at what Bach could do, with just a few notes. The rest is, as I said, just me filling out his harmonies through this arrangement I made smile

Thanks for listening, for bearing with me, and for any comments! Happy Christmas and New Year smile

James, a very pleasant arrangement, nicely mixed. Can't have a better source than J.S.B.! Merry Christmas!

Yes, I am always in awe of Bach. Nicely done arrangement. It's nice to hear something different and Baroque.

JS and Vivaldi are my favs, too. You are so good at anything classical, James. This is so cool, man. I listened before reading. I'm not as familiar with this as many others he wrote. The solo sounded somewhat familiar, but now i read that was for violin. So I had to listen all over again right away. Cool how you included BiaB.

Oh, man, I spent an awful lot of time (but it surely wasn't awful) learning his Sonata #1 on bass. When I took my then 14-year-old son to Victor Wooten's Bass Camp, I was floored when he played the opening of it as his second song when each participant had the chance to solo. [His first was the melody of Cannonball Adderly's Work Song.]

Merry Christmas, James.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Marty: thank you so much. Ever so kind of you, as always. You must be so proud of your son ... Bach is (notoriously, of course) difficult to approach, let alone somehow master, so him playing that Sonata for you, with you there (and with you as a bass player, too), must have been amazing. Music transcends so much, no? especially music like that smile . Happy Christmas to you and yours! smile

Ray: thanks smile I notated the piano part in MuseScore, then run it through Dorico, to get the piano audio from. Thanks for listening!

TuneMonger: thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I was a little bit worried about doing this one justice smile

Very contemplative and well done all around.

Great arrangement ... very creative and we imagine it took considerable thought.

Thanks for the info on the piano also.

Enjoyed it!

Hi James.

This is excellent listening and you've done a great job.
I love Bach. He was an extraordinary composer.
It's no accident that he is regarded as the ultimate guide to Baroque music harmony.
I love the way that you have kept the integrity of the sonata while placing your own signature on this arrangement and creation smile
The end result is very satisfying music.

I hope you have a terrific December and 2025.
