My understanding is that the big difference between these 2 is that the Artist Performance series is what can be done with them - both involve an expert musician playing over a series of chord changes, but the RealTracks solosists are designed to work within the framework of BB's dynamically generated Band accompaniments.

I would think then the the quality of the solos is not the real difference, but that the Artist performance set's focus is on composition of an entire standalone piece or song to be analyzed and studied. The framework for using it in the BB dynamic generation was not done. The Realtrack soloists recordings were done so with the intention of mixing and matching them with dynamic chord progressions entered by the users - which may very well have affected the types of lines recorded.

Am I missing anything ?
