Sorry about the tech issues. Years ago I got fed up with an fx company’s delay in updating to the current OS so I decided to remix what I considered our best songs. Man, what a hassle … mainly because it wasn’t just adding new effects but also finding other issues that I thought needed addressing. Mixes are never finished just abandoned! Pardon the rant. This sounds excellent to us … amongst many good things those strings are standout. And again we are amazed at the number of tracks and how well each one sits in the soundstage. Beautiful, ethereal, mesmerizing and well done. J&B Thanks for the response, J & B. Besides my having to reverse channels on my posted material I also find that most benefit from a remix. I've redone 7 so far, but I've still got over 30 to go and it IS a hassle! Particularly as I'm having to redo the videos as well as most I'll want to improve on one way or another. But I'll now be unlikely to be creating any new material until March.

I know your pain. We spend so much time and cash on our compositions and we don't want some other entity flipping it around. I found your efforts here (as others have said) soothing. I didn't watch the video as I find they can be distracting. Well done.

Chay, this is a masterpiece. An outstanding song with an arrangement that is second to none. IMHO this is your best to date

Chay,
It's a truly fantastical video. I don't know if it has any religious meaning or not. I think the music is the perfect soundtrack for this video. Also, I don't really care about left and right in stereo. For example, the placement of drums from the performer's side and the listener's side are completely opposite. There are also mixes where the violin and cello are intentionally swapped. So please don't worry too much about that. Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.
Best regards.

While I'm really very pleased with my arrangement and mix, as previosuly mentioned, you can't really compare it to my other material as it's so different instrumentally. I still consider "Quan Yin" to be my most accomplished re samplings, arrangement and mix, then this piece 2nd, but both are very different to everything else I've done as well as to each other. Both are in my top 10 favourite compositions, but re 'best' this Zen koan comes to mind: A man goes to a fishmonger and says "Give me the best piece of fish you have." The fishmonger replies; "It's all the best."

Shigeki Adachi Dōmo arigatō, Shigeki san. The Deya (Goddess) is a character from my novel "Quest of the Solar Flower". Deya is her name, also the name of her planet and her title as the leader of her planet's peoples who is always a female and the most consciously evolved - thus she's Deya the Deya of Deya. For me she also symbolises the Divine Feminine which is found in all spiritual traditions - the Yin of Yin & Yang, Quan Yin to the Buddhists, the 2nd H in YHVH, Shakti to the Hindus, Sophia to the Greek Gnostics, the Virgin to Christians, White Buffalo Woman to the Lakotah Sioux, etc, etc, and probably Amaterasu to Shintoists. So spiritual rather than religious. Regarding channels, I as a right-handed person tend to take the view as when seated at a piano and drum kit. The piano's high keys are on the right, so I like the high notes to be biased right; plus the drums' floor tom-toms to be heard mostly right, the snare to the left. The rest is personal preference, for example the default channel for the organ when taking a BiaB sample is that it's always to far right, but I much prefer it to the far left. I like the bass to be heard just left of centre as when I was drummer in my teens the bassist was always to my left. Depending on the piece, the rhythm instruments can be centre, left or right depending on what else is in the mix, then when there are 2 solo instruments they should never be on the same side. But the main issue for me is that 99% of my listening is on headphones and when I listen to the channels reversed - not as I intended them - it all just sound wrong to me. So I am definitely going to remix everything I've done as I want my music to be heard the way I intended it to be heard.

I looks like I had missed this one with my busy schedule. Such a lovely composition with gentle movement. The mix sounds good to me. You are creative with your use of instrumentation.

Very nice. Soothing music.
Regarding the stereo being swapped.... I think you could reverse that but why go to the bother? No one except you knows it's left on right and right on left....absolutely no one. And just as many people care. They just listen to the music and appreciate it.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Currently working solely with BiaB, once I have the chord structure I spend hours on finding the right instruments, which is why some of my pieces have more than one version, but it's always the arranging and mixing that makes or breaks it.

And just as many people care. They just listen to the music and appreciate it. Thanks for listening and commenting, Guitarhacker. A few have commented as you have re the channel-swapping, and as regards listening via speakers probably no-one would notice anything, but the important thing for me, the creator/artist, is that due to my home circumstances 99% of my listening is done via headphones and when I hear the reversed channels it just sounds wrong to me. It's the equivalent of an abstract artist discovering that all of hi/r paintings have been exhibited upside down. So I have to put it right just for my own benefit. Although it's turned into a bit of a chore, I've found that remixing from scratch is better then just swapping channels, so what I get is something that's just a bit better than the original.
