For the same reasons as you, I am looking for a FOSTEX 4 track cassette that outputs 4 channels (some like the X12 and X15 output stereo only). I know that the X-26 will work. I KNEW I shouldn't have tossed mine a couple years ago, but I did. 
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
