Caribbean HeatI started on this last week and finished it last night. A little bit of Pop, Latin, Jazz, and Blues - leaning more heavily toward Latin Jazz. There are quite a few percussion tracks - balancing then and deciding when and where to bring each one in and taking it out was the most significate time-consuming part of the project - about 8 hours total. If nothing else, it's something new. Hope you enjoy it. Alan, well, this puts me in the mood to skip Christmas altogether and head to the islands. There are worse things than mild dehydration and sun damage for sure.  Great job, as usual. Cool instrument choices, and the last third really pumps up the dynamics in interesting ways, especially with the electric guitar. Super mix/master, too. Wishing you and Di a joyous Christmas. Ron

All this is well sent and the addition of percussion gives a nice atmosphere. I was put some santana in my bottle when I was little, so I'm delighted.

Hey, the islands celebrate Christmas, too. ANd, Alan, this is the perfect song for them to enjoy and us to dream about warm palm trees. Man, you're right, there is a lot of percussion in there. When we fashion drum tracks we have to be sure not to give the drumer 6 limbs, but with percussion we can have a stage-full of hands. You managed to put everything in the right place --being heard with respect for the ensemble.

Pleasant chord progression takes me to under the Caribbean sun from the cloudy 0C weather here. BIAB Santana brings cool jazzy drinks, the sax adds wistful moments towards the night. It would seem a bit odd to celebrate Christmas in 85-degree weather, wearing shorts and a T-shirt! I have a friend from Jamaica whose husband is the Assistant Minister of one the government entities. She has twin sons who say it would be odd to celebrate Christmas in snowy weather! I had to play with the various drum tracks to avoid some of what you said about the six-armed drummer thing. I went online a watched 7 or 8 videos of Caribbean-based bands and how their percussion parts were arranged. The one thing I most noticed was that they usually had three or four different percussionists, as you commented. I used that as my guide. Glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas to you and yours. I always wanted to spend the Christmas vacations somewhere in the summer, but for some reason that never worked out. Nice song, it has a Caribbean vibe with a bit of Santana where the guitar leads. Merry Christmas back to you both
