Through the updates of BIAB in recent years, my biggest feeling is that I hope BIAB will stop updating new features.
Micro chords, multi-tracks, too many new features, I have never used them. There are also F7 functions, multipicker library, which are very laggy when I use them. Your new features are often accompanied by new problems. And it seems that they never improve, or improve after a year. But new features that are not used immediately come up, which bring new problems.
In fact, in my opinion, the core value of BIAB is to input chords and play music. The biggest advantage of BIAB is its simplicity and convenience, a large number of RealTracks, and many music styles.
Through BIAB, I became familiar with chord knowledge and established a sense of chord listening. When I hear a song, I immediately input chords and get a similar feeling. I am very happy and it builds my confidence. I can even create songs myself. But BIAB cannot be too detailed, because I definitely complete the details of music in DAW.
In my extensive use, I found that BIAB's RealTrack should be the most helpful at present. Although other companies have a large number of VSTs, the sound is fake and not as good as BIAB's RealTrack. I still hope that BIAB can classify RealTrack. It does not mean that there is no need for classification just because it can be searched. This view is wrong. Windows can also search, so does it mean that we don't need to classify files or folders?
After classifying realtrack, we can easily insert different realtracks. For example, after writing the beginning and chorus of a song, we can choose which realtrack is suitable for use. If we do these well and continue to release a large number of realtrack expansion packs, BIAB will have won over other DAWs.
If BIAB is made into a DAW, I don't think anyone will use it. After all, everyone knows that DAWs such as CUBASE and STUDIO ONE are too convenient.

Really? That's not my experience. After more than a year after it was deployed, this is a first such comment I see. Curious if any one else agrees on this particular statement.
----------- babymusic, Are you using / familiar with a feature of partial regeneration on real tracks? If you do, I encourage you to explore the benefits of Track View with that feature. If you don't use it....perhaps you should learn about it. It will likely change your opinion. Unless you are perfectly satisfied with the first generation BIAB is giving. In that case, just forget about this paragraph.

I recorded a video of it, you can watch it. I can actually live with the lag. I think it's caused by putting so many menus together.

I really don't understand what you're talking about. Would you mind making a video for me to show you how to do it? I'm sure I'd love it because your suggestions are always excellent.
babymusic, You either have a slow computer or running from a spinner drive as musocity reported above. I've tested on 2 year old and a 6 year old computers, and I don't get this "lag". I do have BIAB installed on internal drive. The cost per GB of SSD comes to less than $15 for UltraPak to be installed on internal drive. (average 0.08 cents per GB). Maybe you should explore that option to minimize lag in general... ---- I am not a "tutorial" guy. PGM or somebody with a skill should do a deeper Partial Regeneration tutorial. Here is the video I did just to show feature to forumers. In my view, this is one of the most powerful features BIAB has to offer. Since that video, PGM made a standard vertical cursor, so it became easier to navigate.
I found out today that the cause of the lag was using ezkey2 vst3. When I changed the default synth to ezkey1 vst, everything worked fine.
I watched the video you shared. It's the first time I know that you can play it this way. ctrl+F8 to change the instrument playing and find what you like. It's very convenient. Thank you for sharing it with me. This method is very good.
If you set EZK1 as default synth and open a midi file, ALL TRACKS WILL BE PIANO. You need to set a General Midi instrument instead. Coyote, Halion Sonic, TTS, etc...
