I’m really into this track. It has such a nice, warm feel and some really cool surprises in the production. The drum choices never let it drop into boring. I like that! I also think the bell sounds around 2:40 totally give off a Springsteen kind of vibe. The second chorus backing vox compliment but also do their own thing in a really great way. The outro singing was next level tasty.

I’m totally with Rayc on that Christopher Cross feel, I got that right away too. And yeah, I can almost hear Bruce Springsteen writing something along these lines, but I’m also kinda picking up this vibe that reminds me of some Keith Urban stuff...specifically some of the drums sounds/choices AND when he teamed up with Eric Church. I know that might sound weird, but I promise it fits, even if you’re not a big fan of that reference. wink I mean, I get you LOVE K.U. but didn't mean to offend with the E.C. comment. grin

Overall, I just love how it all comes together. The whole thing feels right, like something you would throw on and instantly feel good about. It is just done so well. I don't mind a 5 minute song when it leaves you wanting more. smile Congrats on a great song!

Gotta go. Headed to the ER. Dancing accident. grin

I'm going to get you to write my next song post. I knew I would be hooked and like this song before hearing the first note. The song was not a let down at all. It starts out the gate with a great write, production and performance. I agree with you, this is a song to be excited about. I'm excited for you for the obvious motivation and satisfaction you've gotten from doing this project. I enjoyed this one a lot and will certainly be back for more listens.

Floyd, you have posted some fantastic songs on this site but IMHO this one is your best.
Everything about this one is outstanding; great intro, super bass and drums, outstanding arrangement, and of course great vocals and lyrics.
Loved it!

Yeah, that solo is unreal. It's has an intensity that is hard to capture, but you have done it here for sure.

I'm still amazed by these solos - even after months of hearing them. Providing good solos is a BIAB strength...

I'm always blown away by your vocals and engineering. Your production is such a high point for me. Everything here is on 10 and the fade out with your vocal was perfect.

Music to my ears.

That was a lightening fast five minutes, which is the whole point, I think. Nice one, maestro!

Thanks for the great review, Ron.

We know you are a Bruce fan and wow does his vibe ever show here with the anthemic rock feel.
Bob stated our notions much better than our above attempt.

The genre fitting arrangement/mix, vocals and lyric are standout and a showcase of your musical versatility.
The use of tracks from such multiple sources along with your piano sound great.

And, yep the solo is killer.

Ain’t five minutes fun?!😊

Keep on exploring!

That piano introduction sounds great, like from an instant reconizable hit song. And then comes a classic fj relationship song with romantic images of carefree love and longing, " trying to capture a moment that can't last" - well you managed to capture a moment that will last more than 5 minutes of this masterpiece. Lush production with many nice details, sweet chord progression, heartbreaking soloist selection and great vocals wrap this into a beautiful package under the tree.

LOVE what the bass does, excellent choice.
And it's been a long time since I listened to a guitar solo outro till the end.
That was a great idea.
And the transition from the louder part of the chorus to the quieter part works extremely well.

Personally, I'd up the lead vocal in the first part of the chorus a dB or three to put it above the band, but I assume you've already tried that and liked it better the way it is now.
Anyway, killer song, killer production.
My new favorite song of yours.

Thanks, Brian. Appreciated.
And, yes, I like where the vocals sit (but I did check them based on your observation. Thanks)

but the melody & vocal are way better than those & lift the song above their level of AOR.

...and that makes me happier, yet. Humbled.

I was hoping for a Floyd solo

That might be coming.

but will settle for Floyd rhythm guitar, piano, celeste etc. for this one.

Impressive in every way. Lovely melody and a great production.
Excellent music.
(nice work on the outro solo sounds like a thought out solo rather than one made of lots of licks)

Excellent lyrics . . . big sound. That opening with the piano had a very Springsteen type sound . . . and while what followed took on a bit more of a country sound . . . I could hear Bruce doing this song.

Big thumbs up on this one from me!!

The verse sounds great, and then it explodes at the chorus.

Catchy, lingers in the ear like a pop song should. And the outro keeps it going!

What's that word you use? Killer. smile

Thanks, David. Appreciate that...

The vocal performance is you to a tee ... of incredible quality, and with those trademark Floyd Jane voice inflections which take it all "over the top", as it were. The piano playing and instrumental arrangement are the cherry on the cake.

This is superb stuff.

Hi floyd.

Wow!!! and Wow!!! again.
This is top-notch, first-class, super-duper listening.
Your production is brilliant. I don't know how you did it but I love what you've done.
This sounds like it should be in a movie.
Everything about the lyrics rings with authenticity, and it's a story that resonates across all age groups.
Images and memories flooded my mind as I listened.
That amazing chorus is nothing less than amazing!
You've really raised the bar with this one.

All the very best for a brilliant 2025!
