I want to do something very simple.

What I have:
  • a track in 100 BPM, 3/4 time-signature exported from Cubase
  • a BIAB project 100 BPM, 3/4 time-signature with some additional instruments

What I want:
  • Import the .wav file into BIAB and have it all together to continue writing.

What I got:
  • Unaligned import.
I can solve the problem by defining the start in the audio editor, but it would be much easier if I could grab the displayed waveform and move it with the mouse until it sounds best, which I have not been able to do so far.
    It is not tangible.
  • Unsynchronized import.
I can change the tempo of the track until it fits, but my innocent thought was that if I import a track with the same tempo and time signature, it should just play in the same tempo.
Also, sometimes the imported audio is before the beat, sometimes after, as if there's a tempo map, which I never created.

Naive as I am, I used the “Import->Audio File” menu, which obviously doesn't work.
Are there any settings I need to set/remove to accomplish this simple task?

Thanks in advance for any help and/or pointers to a solution.
