Hi All.

Here's the second song from the "Got Me" CD. It's called "If I Wanted To" and was written back in '15. This is one of the first songs I used Real Tracks on. Warning: This is pretty hard-core Country. LOL Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks for listening.

https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14174583

Here's the players:

Bass - #518 Dow Tomlin
Piano - #2024 John Jarvis
Acoustic 6-String - #362 Tony King
Acoustic 12-String - #1118 Pay McGrath
Steel - #2001 Paul Franklin
Electric Guitar - #1705 Brent Mason
Drums - Superior 2

IF I WANTED TO

Verse:
I hear your knock, I see you standing there
With hat and heart in your hand
But I don't have the see the questionnaire
To know just what you have planned
Girl you've hurt me ten times out of ten
So give my heartache it's due
I swear I can’t go through you again
Even if I wanted to.

Chorus 1:
If I wanted to I'd just close my eyes
And I'd open up my heart
If I wanted to I'd believe your lies
And then serve them ”A La Carte”
Girl you're wanting me to convince myself
That my heart's not black-and-blue
I won't do it, I couldn't take you back
Even if I wanted to

Instrumental

Chorus 2:
Oh if I wanted to I could make believe
You didn't cut me to the bone
If I wanted to I'd roll up my sleeves
And step into your hurting zone
Girl you're hoping I'll take a look at us
From a whole new point of view
I won't do it, I couldn't take you back
Even if I wanted to

Tag:
No I've been through it, I couldn't take you back
Even if I wanted to

Paul,

VERY nice.
Really good use of those early RTs. Solid.
You have a terrific "70's/80's style vocal".

A very strong write.

Well done. Pro level all the way.

Echo Floyd on your performance, delivery, etc…professional and polished. Regarding your use of BIAB, it’s always amazing to me how, in the hands of a skillful writer, one can create so realistic a “band” as you did here. I chalk it up to craftsman-like use of the toolkit from PG. excellent creative work and great production.

This is great sounding classic country. The use - mix and arrangement - of all of the tracks is extremely well done. The vocals are excellent and all around it's a professionally production.

Paul,

I grew up playing lead guitar to exactly this kind of classic country.

Sounds terrific to me. Sounds as though it's straight from 16th Avenue. So nice to hear such a great recording. You nailed it! Your voice reminds me of Jim Glaser of Tompall and the Glaser Brothers. Related?

That was an amazing listen! Happy New year.

Alan

Paul,

Absolutely nothing wrong with "hard-core" country! Your vocals here are of a superior quality! Background vocals also! You arranged these realtracks in a beautiful way that are perfect for this tune! This is excellent Country music!

Thanks, TB

Thanks very much, Alan! I really do appreciate the comments and I'm glad you like it. It's nice to find so many Country fans on the forums. Yes, the Glaser Brothers were my uncles, (God rest their souls). Jim was easily one of the best voices of that period. Thanks again and Happy New Year to you and yours!

So pro all the way, Paul. Hey, no warning label needed. This one is in the Exceptionally Good Country bin, and it's likely always sold out. Dang, I love those harmonies. Excellent band, and your strong vocal range is perfect for an exceptional delivery.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Paul, super tune! Could be a lost Gram Parsons track. Love those RTs and the mix is sublime. REALLY love your vocals and the arrangement of the 3-part harmonies. Just...did I say sublime? Yep, and...so it is. Nice one!
