BiaB 2024 build 1111
I'm not sure how much of this is me and how much is BiaB.
I've set BiaB up with an external software GM2 synth (VirtualMIDISynth) as a substitute for one of my hardware synths. My intent later is to use the hardware synth and no audio from the PC, so I have things set up with no RealDrums and I'm gradually building out repertoire from MGU files.
I'd noticed before and have just seen again, that an MGU from which I'm adapting has sforzando loaded on some tracks. That causes a probably surmountable issue where I hear two instruments playing on the one track. By just taking off the sforzando instruments, I can remove its instrument and leave just the one on the external synth. But ... setting the instrument for the BiaB track is not setting the instrument for the synth. I've tried GM2 and GM patches, but the instrument stubbornly stays as it was.
Looking at the MIDI monitor, I see no program change message sent. Is that expected? Do I have to configure something, and if so what and where?
Possibly more worrying is that whilst testing this, I've also noticed that BiaB appears to not be stopping notes when I press the stop button, so whatever note(s) were last sent be BiaB continue to play. I hit the 'panic' on the synth to stop this.
Is there some advice about how best to handle these, please?

Are you using MIDISuperTracks in the MGUs?
PG Music has MIDISuperTracks setup to automatically load Sforzando and the appropriate Sforzando patch for each MIDISuperTrack. There is a way for PG Music to break the associations but I don't know how to.
PG Music use to provide IkMultimedia's SampleTank Free and use that player with MIDISuperTracks but had to switch when IkMultimedia switched the player from VST2 to VST3. That opened the door for Sforzando.

Are you using MIDISuperTracks in the MGUs? Yes I am, though they're being loaded from the style I'm loading. PG Music has MIDISuperTracks setup to automatically load Sforzando and the appropriate Sforzando patch for each MIDISuperTrack. There is a way for PG Music to break the associations but I don't know how to. Ah, right. Hopefully someone will be along soon. In the meantime, perhaps I'll just avoid MIDISuperTracks. There are a few options in Prefs->MIDI File and Prefs->MIDI Options that may be worth experimenting with if nothing's forthcoming. Ah ... ChatGP seems to answer this question sensibly: "How do I stop MIDI SuperTracks from using sforzando, please?" (apparently that needs to be without the quotes I added) I'll try its suggestions tomorrow. PG Music use to provide IkMultimedia's SampleTank Free and use that player with MIDISuperTracks but had to switch when IkMultimedia switched the player from VST2 to VST3. That opened the door for Sforzando. I think I had sampletank when I first tried BiaB back in 2013(?), though at that time I found BiaB unusable on my small screened notepad PC and gave up on it.

Ah ... ChatGP seems to answer this question sensibly: "How do I stop MIDI SuperTracks from using sforzando, please?" (apparently that needs to be without the quotes I added) I'll try its suggestions tomorrow. Hmm .. seems to, but it's quite misleading and in effect does only what I'd already tried. It does appear that I probably have to do this to every MTS where sforzando is auto-selected, which is a bit tedious, but should work. Today I do get the correct instruments, though. Clicking the stop button still sometimes leaves a note on, but today, clicking the play button stops the note ... yesterday it didn't. The only difference I can think of at the moment is that I removed sforzando yesterday and reloaded the MGU today. I jad the impression yesterday that removing sforzando fom a track may have removed the pluging, but not caused some MIDI controls to be sent to the output, i.e., they were still being sent to the now removed sforzando. It's just a guess and I've already spent too long playing with this. I don't presently plan to explore further v... if something doesn't work as I expect I'll just save the file, open it again and see if it now behaves. I'm not sure what to do about unended notes. It'll be OK with piano, guitar, etc., where the notes decay anyway, but it's rather nasty with the trombone I presently have on the track. I think I'll bite the bullet and move to 2025 1124c. At least anything I report will then be on the current version.
