The new tempo matching feature introduced this year is a total failure for me. And I had so much hope for it. I tend to find projects where tempo is variable (intentionally or not) and a tempo map is needed. Yet no one in the forums has even made a mention of this feature. I can only assume it has not yet been used!
Could some one with Reaper please try to sych a tempo map in Reaper with the BIAB VST and report your findings?
Hi Dan, I did mention this feature when it first released and it does work in Studio One. I cannot verify for Reaper because I have not used that in a long while and I only had version 2 or 3 I think. However, I really think they need an updated video tutorial as it took me a while to figure it out.
It says it offers fast, ".WAV-less" generation but I can't figure that one out because it always creates wave files in the BBplugin folder. I suppose I am missing something?
BIAB 2026 Ultrapack- Fender Studio Pro 8, Windows 11, Mac Mini M4 with Logic Pro 11, Melodyne Studio, Luna Pro
The 2025 version will follow any tempo map. It won't render any wav's if you go through the preferences, In the Plugin In Preferences>Rendering disable "Generate Audio for Midi.." and disable "Generate Style Mix" and use WAV instructions only
Thanks Musocity, but you are wrong. It does not work - starts out fine, indicators show tempo map following the DAW but by the middle of the song it all just starts wobbeling and goes to crap. Works fine if I remove the tempo map.
I can send a video and the Reaper files if you want. But this has not worked for me since day 1.
Sorry, I though it was the old post before the 2025 version release Can the BIAB-VST follow a Tempo Map in Reaper? But if it's not working on the 2025 I'll take your word for it as I have not tried that out. It's a bugger when you have to wait a year each time for things, I wasn't suppose to be back this time around so I don't know if I'll still be here to see it all finally working If I'm not here someone else will have to take over the nagging !
What it will do now in v7 is when you send the tracks from the Plugin to Reaper, the track items will follow tempo changes, it never did that in v6.
EDIT: further, it's not actually fitting correctly as there are no stretch markers put in the items, but the bottom track is put in with the script I made and it fits correctly with stretch markers:
I give you credit for finding a workaround based on the reascripts, but this is a fix in Reaper, not in the BIAB-VST. If this Reaper fix is necessary there is no way the BIAB-VST can claim it is synching with the DAW tempo map! Thanks for acknowledging what no one else has been able to or have cared to address.

Seamless Tempo Stretching – Always in Sync Whether you’re speeding up or slowing down, our advanced tempo stretching keeps your tracks perfectly synchronized. No tempo maps? No problem! Enjoy smooth transitions across any tempo changes in your DAW.
Well by that statement there it sounds like it should all work perfectly as it should be using the Elastique Pro dll to stretch/shrink on the fly, maybe the Al Gore Rhythm needs tweaking ? Even if that gets fixed you want the items to also sync up to the tempo map when you send the tracks into Reaper.
Confirmed, the midi DAW synced play back from the BB Plugin is not following the DAW, playing from the SavedTracks folder or sending to DAW, as stated by Mario also.

Tempo sync works fine for us in Reaper and in other DAWs. What style are you using?

We have identified an issue with MIDI playback syncing and hope to have it fixed shortly.
Edit - Simon and I happened to post at the same, I'll leave my reply as there are a few more details

Actually the tempo map has worked flawlessly in my testing. However, we have identified an issue related to small buffer sizes in the DAW that may be the source of the problem you are reporting. This will be addressed in the upcoming new build of the plugin. We'll email you when it's available.
There is another topic regarding the temp map, which is that if you are routing MIDI to an embedded synth or to the DAW, and have Sync Playback selected (see screenshot attached, DAW Settings), the tempo changes are not followed. I don't think this is the problem you are describing and it is not a very common setting. However, I am just mentioning that we have working on a solution for this.

Agreed, we are working on updated video tutorials and documentation, should be available soon.

Possibly - look at the Generation Options menu (Drop-down menu from the Generate button). You would need to have "wave instructions" selected there. See screenshot attached. There is one exception though, with MIDI tracks.... Unless you are routing MIDI to the DAW or an embedded synth, it needs to have wave files to play them. There is a preference for that in the Render preferences - see screenshots attached. "Generate Audio for MIDI-only styles"

I reported earlier that raising my ASIO buffer from 256 (my normal operation) to 1024 made a big difference in the tempo matching to the map. I have moved on to another project which doesn't require the tempo map so it will be a while till I get back to test more of this. I look forward to any additional fixes you folks can arrange. The 1024 if a bit large for my general recording purposes.
Andrew and Simon ? that means Adar must be on holidays, he deserves it after all the work he put in the get direct play working ! huge leap forward for PG. I remember the day it was first released, you had to go get a cup of coffee (and drink it) while it generated.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
