Working on a song with instruments and a single vocal track. Decided I wanted to make the instrument solo longer, so I have to slide the vocal over so it comes in at the right place. Trying to use the Audio Edit Window function. But when I copy one measure of silence (first photo) and then paste it in , the vocal shifts by two measures (2nd photo). Is this a bug or I’m doing something wrong?
musocity: Thanks for the suggestion! It gives me an idea on how to do things in different manner. I'll try it out and let you know. Actually there are other funny things happening when I try to edit audio. I'm beginning to wonder if my recent win 11 update is causing a problem.
Copying and pasting is fairly imprecise. I would suggest using the following menu item - Audio > Edit Audio > Timeshift Audio (ms). This brings up a window where you can enter the amount of milliseconds you want to shift the audio by.
To figure out what to enter here, if you want to shift by exactly one bar the math is as follows: (60/Tempo) * 1000 * Beats per bar
So at 120bpm in 4/4 that would be (60/120) * 1000 * 4 = 2000 Or at 80bpm in 3/4 that would be (60/80) * 1000 * 3 = 2250
musocity: Using your tip to move the whole wave form versus insert some "silence" got me what I wanted! Many thanks for the tip!
Simon: Thanks for an alternate way to do what I wanted. I'll keep that in mind in the future. There does appear to be a bug trying to copy "silence" between vocal parts and insert it to move the waveform, though. The waveform doesn't always move, You might have the programmer's look at that.
