Hi All,
Longtime user of BIAB. Go back to the DOS version in the 90s.
I usually update every 4-5 years depending on the new features added - so, I might be due.
Trying to decide if I should just get the 2025 PRO version for the program udates. Problem is, I'm reading lots of posts about BIAB 2025 not fixing a number of "old" bugs. And I don't really know if I have any use for the newer features. So I might just update to the 2025 Ultra Pak for the new MIDI/Real Tracks/Drums.
There are a couple of bugs that still frustrate me. The inconsistent "regeneration/save" when using RealTracks/Drums. After saving and regenerating a song, BIAB doesn't always play back any changes to Styles correctly. I have to save and regenerate a couple of times to get everything in sync. And I gave up trying to use repeats/2nd endings, etc. years ago. I just enter all the chords linearly from the begining to the end of the song. Have any of these features been improved in BIAB 2025?
I use the program to layout the instrumental parts/arrangement for my original songs, then import the MIDI files/Real Tracks/Drums into my DAW where I add vocals, mix, and season to taste. Using Studio One 6.6.x and 7.x.
Does BIAB 2025 allow you to create a song at 48K sampling rate? I notice whenever I open BIAB, the sample rate on my audio interface (RME UCXii) automatically locks to 44.1K. My projects in Studio One are usually 48/24. So, when I import audio from BIAB, I have to change my Studio One song's sample rate to 44.1K.
So what say you?
I accept that the program is quirky and buggy, but I use it, and for what I do, it meets my needs.
Is it worth upgrading from BIAB 2021 Ultra Pak to 2025 Pro or Ultra Pak?
Thanks, Danny V.

I think you will be very pleased to upgrade. Two things stand out to me: regeneration of partial tracks, and the dramatic decrease in generation time. Tons of other new features that you might like.
It’s my opinion that you are reading more posts about bugs because some of us long-time users have decided that it is time to take a time-out on new features (except RealTracks and styles, because it’s great these keep coming), and work on some of these old issues. That does NOT mean the rate of bugs is increasing. The program actually strikes me as considerably more stable than it was then, even after all the new features that were introduced.
No, it’s still locked at 44.1.
You should definitely upgrade to the Pro version. If you want to go to the new UltraPak it will be because you want the 200+ new RealTracks each year. You can audition many of them to help decide.

Many people post in the forum they upgrade for the content (RealTracks, MIDI SuperTracks, etc.) more than new features. If that's how you feel then yes, it's worth upgrading from 2021 BiaB Ultra PAK to the 2025 BiaB Ultra PAK. If not, then the Pro PAK maybe the best option for you. Band-in-a-Box still prefers 44.1K sample rate and 16 bit rate. After saving and regenerating a song, BIAB doesn't always play back any changes to Styles correctly. This is a subject best separated and placed into a new thread. There is the potential for lots of follow up questions, responses and opinions. I gave up trying to use repeats/2nd endings, etc. years ago. Repeats/2nd endings etc. hasn't greatly changed. Again this is a subject best covered in a separate post as there will be lots of follow up questions, responses and opinions. Four years of change is a lot of change. I can attest 2025 Band-in-a-Box is more stable and crash resistant than 2021 Band-in-a-Box.
