I have enjoyed Boxnet and find it meets my needs. However, is there something better. I tried Soundcloud.com and they seemed to convert my MP3 into a wav file and I didn't like the sound as well as from my boxnet site.
Who knows about music sites and can recommend what I should know about them.

Soundcloud is much more convenient to use in my book. They will not convert .wav to .mp3, but rather the other way around.

Is there a way to enhance the wave file that Soundcloud makes? Can you use Audacity with it? Or does Soundcloud have some options within that allows for changes in the wave file.

I just read the FAQ and Soundcloud lets you keep your originally enhanced soundfile if you check the downloadable box. So I guess I can keep my enhanced mp3 with with option.

I convert .wav files to .mp3 before loading them onto SoundCloud. SoundCloud converts everything to 128 kbps .mp3 files unless you allow for download and then you can choose.
I use it simply because it's an easy way to share songs to get comments.
What is your intended use of putting music on the internet?

I put my clarinet and piano music out there for my friends and family to hear.
What is the difference between the MP3's that Audacity puts out and the 128 kbps. MP3 files?

Audacity does not create .mp3 without what is called a 'codec'. At some point in time, you have to tell Audacity what codec to use and how to use it. The 'how' would set the bit rate.
The .mp3 files from Audacity have a bit rate, probably 128 kbps, and probably generated using the LAME codec.
If you are just 'putting music out there' for friends and family to hear, and not necessarily download, 128 kbps is fine.

Ok, Great. Good information.
I probably have Audacity with the LAME codec.
And my friends who listen to my music don't always want to download. They just want to listen, so Soundcloud looks like a good option for me.

I subscribed to Soundcloud to check it out and it's certainly very easy to use. However, I was disappointed when I loaded up my first file as it was attenuated in some way, i.e. lost about 10%/15% of its volume. I don't know why they did that and I never expected files would be interfered with, as it were.
So, for sharing music in the future I'm going to continue with what I've always done: post a link to the music file loaded up to my own web space.

As for myself, I use my ISPs web page.
What I upload is not interfered with in any way.
What I put there, you hear. I like maintaining my own site
as simple as it is.

I put some of my music out on my ISP's web page but found it only functions as a storage and download site. It won't let me just play the piece without downloading it first. I like the option of playing my music without downloading it first on both boxnet and soundcloud.
