Mac,
Greg Warne, who founded Kimber of Oregon, was the individual who got the contract for the government purchase of 20,000 .22LR competition rifles. They were manufactured between 1987 and 1990. At some point after that, Greg sold the company, which eventually became Kimber America and moved to New York. Kimber America manufactured the Model 82 SVT, which was a Varmint/Target rifle, but has not made .22 caliber rifles in a couple of years now, they are out of the .22 business, which is unfortunate.

I believe that Greg went on to found Warne, which makes high quality rings and mounts, and that business lives on after his death. I'm sure you can do a Wiki on him.

So, my rifle is at least 20 years old, and is a wonderful piece of equipment. Topped with a 8-32 power scope, I can reach out and touch something at 200 yards as small as 2.5" across.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!
