If I want to transfer either the melody or any of the other parts from a piece of sheet music into a computer app of any kind, I play them in. The choice of MIDI or Audio would depend on the app and the usiage I have in mind. Why play them in? Entering them in will make the end product sound lifeless and robotic. When playing music, variances of both timing and volume in the same way as you do when you talk makes the music come alive.
