I haven't been able to figure out how to color code song parts as I have seen in some videos/snapshots. So far, it seems that there are only two default colors (Blue & Green) for the different song parts. By that I mean: - I would like the breakup of the different song parts to show up on the chord chart as a different color (i.e Verses red, Intro Green, Chorus blues, Bridges Orange, etc, etc) - I have seen in in some videos/snapshots so I assume it can be done but my inexperience is stopping me from getting there.
Are there any videos on it? Tried the manual but couldn't find an answer. Thank you
By default styles have two substyles coded blue and green in the box at the left of each bar. Some styles have more substyles and you can create your own by a right-click on that box and "Define c/d".
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2025 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .
Is there an easy way to find and choose multistyles without going through the stylepicker.
Thanks

Guess I will need to let the PGmusic jargon sink in. At first read, the manual is not showing me how to do what I want, or at least I am not seeing it. My intent is to create color coded song sections regardless of the .sty of the song. Example: - If I generate an INTRO for any given song I want that INTRO section marker to be labeled (i) and color coded Orange (regardless of song .sty) - I would want similar results for other song sections (Bridges, Outros, Pre-chorus, Interlude, etc) - I would want to labels and color codes to be available on demand as I entered the chords into the chord chart and independent of individual song styles/sub-styles
Is there a work around to achieve my intent? I am just not getting that whole "aliases" "styles" and 'sub-styles" definitions process.
Hi, Is there an easy way to find and choose multistyles without going through the stylepicker. Thanks
Hi Brian,
(1) Type MULTISTYLES into the filter string (#1 on the image). (2) Click on the dropdown arrowhead (#2) and scroll to the bottom of the menu. Select "More..." (#3) and then select "Multistyles".

I think your request for color coded sections is an extension of requests going back decades to think of a song differently. BIAB began as a program to play tunes from jazz fakebooks, and treats the term ‘chorus’ as the jazz definition (once through the tune). Some users think of songs not in the jazz way, where you have the terms shown in the graphic above like intro, verse, chorus, bridge etc. BIAB can label sections using rehearsal letters like S, T, U etc. or numbers, but not full words. And using the song form you can define your own A, B etc. sections then play the song by specifying the order of those sections. Once BIAB goes through next step and they call the song sections by names like verse, bridge, it would make sense to be able to color them.
For an example of how this could look with colors, see Song Master Pro.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
This is only a mock-up, but I presume this is what you are trying to establish. If so, then it is a great suggestion, but not currently possible in BIAB.
BIAB & RB2025 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
What the OP is looking for has been accomplished, although not in the way he has proposed. You can lable and separate sections of a song so the sections are named. Think about it guys. We have been down the path in the past.
Y'all gave me much to think about and realize this is not a DAW, per se....for now, I believe the that matching (as much as possible) the Song Form widget and the Letter Bar Markers will be the quick work around for me. Maybe BiaB upgrades will at some point allow for the color coding as I wish. Thank you.

That's exactly what I requested here, so thank you for creating this nice mock-up

A minor correction to this search. This search is limited to the MutlStyle Pak of 199 MultiStyles. The StylePicker has hundreds more PG Music MultiStyles. Many MultiStyles don't have Multi or MultiStyle in their descriptive name. PG Music identifies MultiStyles with the plus sign in the Style name. For instance: STHLS2+. STY is a MultiStyle without multi in the long name description.
Inputting an All Categories search with + in the filter box will return many more PG Music MultiStyle styles. My StylePicker returns 1,015 MultiStyles, both RealTrack and Midi.
Thanks very much for explaining this Charlie, I thought I had more Multistyles hiding just forgot about the + sign etc.

OK, we can't use colors, but.... We can seperate each part of the song using Bar Markers and then we can Label each section with the title. Here is the later part : It is pretty effective and maybe will achieve the same endpoint for you.
