Softly In Savannah

I put this together last night between midnight and 2:00 am. It's a soft and gentle acoustic song with acoustic guitar sharing the stage with an acoustic piano.

I'll be over to listen and comment as much as I can tomorrow and over the weekend. Thanks for all who listen and comment.

Alan

Alan, really nicely done. You've really got that guitar sounding like it's RIGHT THERE. Very effective use of the BiaB BGVs, too. Super changes, and the mix is perfect. Wish I were as productive between midnight and 2AM!

Hi Alan.

Beyond softly in savannah I wonder what your thoughts were as you assemled this piece during the witching hours of the night. Your lovely chill out creation took me on a mystical journey through time and space which ended all too soon. Nice choice of instruments. Nice production. Nice musical theme. NICE.

I like how you fashioned it as possible thematic music—that’s an underserved musical segment IMHO. I didn’t find anything “sappy” about this style, it was perfect for what you did with it. I’m amazed that it could be done in only 2 hours! Dreamy and reflective, and all aspects handled with a real pro’s touch.

Not sure about the click especially in the first verse.

Well done

Lovely, gentle instrumental, Al. That you put it together in 2 hours is amazing. I've just spent over 2 weeks getting my first new instrumental of 2025 sorted. Every day over the first few I thought it was done, then the next day on playing it back in a playlist for various comparisons there was always something I wasn't happy with. I ended up dreading making adjustments again.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Many thanks, Ron. Those are some very nice words. I appreciate them! Most of my songs are written within a 2 - 6 hour time frame.

Best to you,

Alan

Izzy,

You are much too kind with your words. But I sure do appreciate them.

My thoughts - We knew we were going to have to have our dachshund put down soon and, wanted to write something gentle to assuage my sorrow. This is where I ended up.

Sadly, she died in my arms as I was carrying her into the vet's office Wednesday morning. We're pretty sad right now.

Wishing you everything good.

Alan

Oh Alan.

I can't bring myself to say "how sad" because that is f+++ing obvious! Maybe sharing experiences can help share the burden. My beloved 15 year old Kelpie had to be put down last year. The vet asked if I wanted to be with her while the deed was done but I was too weak and sat in the waiting room and I have hated myself ever since for not being with her.
I tell you that because I believe that it was a beautiful thing that your much loved puppy would have had much peace and contentment
departing this world from your loving and caring arms.

Your beautiful music is so much more deep and meaningful now.

Nice instrumental. Savanna is a true southern gem of a city and your tune captures some of its magic. Enjoyed it.

Hi Alan.

This is exquisite listening. You led me along on a journey that was immensely soothing and satisfying. I'm amazed that this was created in just two hours. Your expertise is extraordinary. The combination of instruments that you have assembled is perfect. I love the way that you have musically framed the piano and the guitar with your choice of backing instruments and your chord progression.

To my ears, this is beautiful music that shines calmly and brightly.

P.S. I hope that 2025 has started in the best possible way for you and Di.

What a lovely piece of work in so short a time.
I am sad to hear your story.
The way your little dog died was probably the best way for her it has been said as their owners are their world.
Four of mine died in my arms. Two at home and two at the vets.
I am sure she knew you were there at the end.
My condolences.

Vic

Alan, I highly encourage you tostay up late everynight if the result is as dreamy as this ovely piece. I've been in Savanaugh a few times, but never with this kind of feeling. Love it. So soothing, sleepy yet refreshing, calm yet motivating. Your are very gifted, my friend. HEck, if everyone was this good, no one would ever sleep. I hear some changes in there thatseem to be suggested by James Delsono. Excellent tune.

Enjoy whatever happens!
