Is there a way to have real tracks play specific melodic lines?
Yes. The Playable RealTracks feature that's available in later versions of BIAB can play specific melodic lines using underlying midi integrated with the RealTracks instrument playing. Results will vary.
I've attached screen shots of a demonstration I prepared where I replaced the song style with a RealTracks Style for the backing tracks and replaced the first 14 bars of the vocal melody midi with a RealTracks Saxophone Playable RealTrack and the familiar nylon guitar riff with a RealTracks Nylon Guitar Playable RealTrack. The RealTracks overlay the midi tracks of the commercially released midi file of the song.
