With regards to the "high-strings" suggestion. Do you have any youtube examples that highlight specifically what you had in mind as a final result?

With regards to pizzicatto strings, that's also a great idea. Because of the nature of pizz strings, this could potentially be a MIDI Supertrack. Legato strings typically sound pretty bad when using midi samples, but pizzicato by it's nature works quite well, since each note is basically a self-contained bit of audio.
