Hi Floyd,

Well, that's something different from what I'm used to from you.
All of it was demanded by Ray? And you were so obedient to that man down under?
I hear all kinds of new things here on the forum.
That's what happens when you don't visit it regularly, I think.

But you, while having nothing to say, do everything in your song to hide that!
So, what you get with that? A good song, with a raw voice in the chorus, and a solo guitar ending the song.
You done well, Floyd.

PS: is there something else Ray wants from you?

Hans

Floyd, I have nothing bad to say about this song.
Super vocal, lyrics, backing band and mix.
Great guitar leads - if it wasn't for the pentatonic scale most all guitarists would be lost, me included.
It can be scary but it is fun getting out of your comfort zone, especially if it come out great like this song

I love this song! It's a sentiment I've wanted to write about for a long time now, but having heard yours, I no longer feel the need to write it. You've covered the bases well! And I've never heard you sound so rock and roll, it was an awesome vocal! No shame in playing second fiddle to Mister Brent Mason unless your name is Johnny Hiland. I thought your guitar work fit the song well. Great outing!

There’s a whole lotta something in that nothing you had to say. 😊

“A joy in simply living” YES! This looks like one of Janice’s quotes posted in our kitchen.

Love the gritty vocal and the talking before the solo.

The solo is impressive mr jane and even more so given how well it supports the entire vibe of the tune in both chops and tone. Hopefully it is the harbinger of many more!

Good drums mashup of BiaB and Addictive Drums and a great mix. Love that snare pop.

Piano - check
Lead guitar - check
What’s next man?

Get down, floyd jane!

J&B

P.S. Say some more nothing, please.

Good to see you're not afraid to put it out there. The guitar playing was good. The Pentatonic scale is a standard for practically all blues and rock solos and fills. Keep at it.

Thanks for listening, Herb.
If you aren't putting Yourself out there, what's the point... pretending to "create" music?

Thanks, Ron.
I've been through most of the major amp sim packages. There is Nothing that comes close S-Gear, in my opinion. EVERY preset makes me think "I can use that!"

Back to the guitar.

I may be way off on this, I'm no guitar scientist, but that sounds like Billy Gibbons type guitar playing to me. It's about feel. It's about tone. It's about melodic choice. It's about THE SOUND. No garnish, ALL meat!

I really liked it. I'm sorry if you have to be more direct about if that's you playing or not. I know you mentioned not that long ago that you started tinkering around with lead. It just doesn't seem like you would be at this point already if that's the case. Like I said, that wasn't that long ago...at all! I mean, that's a really great sound. Loved the tone, especially for that style of music.

Yes!

So, if that is you, my advice would be to quit as soon as possible. Pick a lane and get great at it. It's pick "a" lane. As in one. No need to be great at all of them. grin
Sorry. All those lanes look so inviting. Jumping in head first.
I'm just making it up as I go.

The outro - you did what gets to me best - I wanted to hear what was happening in the moments after the fade out...al the good rock guitar tunes do that o me.
Cool band, cool vocal, a strong non message & COOOOOL lead stuff.
Personally I'm still not at pentatonic level - I'm still plugging chord tones and am afraid of bends.
You sir, have all of that well sorted.

Nice Floyd. Like the tone.

There sure are some good pickers and riffers on this forum, and you have definitely joined the club.

You and Herb should do a duet like picking brothers. It might be a lot of fun for you guys.

Just a thought.

The forum does have lots of awesome collaborations these days!

Also kudos for writing something about not having anything to write about. Very creative.
You've got PLENTY to say Floyd and I'm all ears enjoying your great music!

Floyd that is a good sounding song. Personally, I thought it had a bit of a Fogarty flavor. Good one Sir Jane

The song works as a song, as well as an excuse for playing solos. Isn't that what rock is all about anyway?

Nice.

Playing pentatonic scales is certainly the first step, and many of the old masters made a career doing just that, Albert King comes to mind, Otis Rush too, and many more.

Good choice of amp sims too, S-Gear is what I've been using for the last few years now also.

Fun stuff!! More please smile

Hi floyd.

I would love to be able to think of songs lyrics like these.
As I see it, it's kind of like 'reading between the lines'.
It's what you don't say that makes these lyrics all the more powerful.
You really are quite an amazing writer. After all these years, I still envy your talent.
Your "I've got nothing to say" says such a lot.

Southern Rock Floyd!
ZZ Jane!
Very cool what you're doing here.
I'm pretty impressed with your guitar solo, the playing and tone are really good.
Your vocals are good but could be a bit more raspy.
Smoking and whiskey help, but are not recommended.
Enjoyed my listen.

Floyd,

Listened to this some days ago . . . cool rocker . . . great write and production treatment. I think your solo is pretty damn good (and I've never been a big fan of Brent's BAIB solo tracks . . . always a bit hit or miss for me). Definitely a head rockin', toe tapping tune! Good stuff!!
