Yes, it is possible now. The easiest way is to enter the notes by clicking on the guitar fretboard. If this is done, when the notation window is open, and in editable notation mode (or note roll), then the note gets inserted at the current time, on the correct fret and string.

You can do this without the guitar fretboard, by right clicking on a note, and assigning channel 11 to 16, for the 6 strings.
So a note on channel 11 is the high E string of a guitar.
