This was my previous song project and one I've had a lot of trouble with since the beginning.
I decided to revisit it with some new panning and level changes as well as a mandolin solo instead of the fiddle, also tried a rather drastic (for me anyway) EQ setting on the master. I would appreciate any feedback on the results.

All tracks are RT's. All vocals, guitar solo & some background guitar are me.

It's really nice to be able to get some feedback from so many varied artists & fellow users of these programs.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

words below

BE MY LADY

I DREAM OF YOU WITH YOUR PRETTY BLUE EYES AND THE WAY THEY LIGHT UP WHEN YOU SMILE

YOUR A LADY IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD WITH CLASS AND STYLE

YOU MAKE MY HEART GO WILD WITH DESIRE AT THE MERE THOUGHT OF YOU

AND YOU BRING BACK FEELINGS OF LOVE THAT I ONCE KNEW

SO WOULD YOU BE MY LADY FOR AWHILE / WOULD YOU CHEER MY LIFE UP DARLIN

WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL SMILE

AND WOULD YOU BE MY LOVER AND MY FRIEND / FOR I NEED SOMEONE MY GIRL

SO MY BROKEN HEART WILL MEND

I SEE YOU STANDING ALONE IN THE WORLD AND YOU STAND MIGHTY TALL

BUT I'D LIKE TO BE BY YOUR SIDE TO CATCH YOU IF YOU FALL

WE BOTH KNOW YOU'VE BEEN HURT BEFORE AND YOUR HEART FEELS THE PAIN

THE PAIN OF A LOVE THAT WAS LOST BUT MY LOVE STILL REMAINS

SO WOULD YOU BE MY LADY FOR AWHILE / WOULD YOU CHEER MY LIFE UP DARLIN

WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL SMILE

AND WOULD YOU BE MY LOVER AND MY FRIEND / FOR I NEED SOMEONE MY GIRL

SO MY BROKEN HEART WILL MEND

(RIDE)

WOULD YOU BE MY LADY FOR AWHILE / WOULD YOU CHEER MY LIFE UP DARLIN

WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL SMILE

AND WOULD YOU BE MY LOVER AND MY FRIEND / FOR I NEED SOMEONE MY GIRL

SO MY BROKEN HEART WILL MEND

I listened to this last night Greg- around 4am. I have some thoughts but I must run for now. I'll check back in later. In short, the tune is very good. I think the hook is very good with great harmonies to support it. I hear some questionable compression going on that overall, makes the track sound compressed a bit too much. But I'd have to listen again later. But I think this is great work! And I sympathise with trying to get a handle on things. If it were easy, EVERYONE would be great at it! Catch you later.

Dan,
Thanks so much checking it out. After listening to this throughout the day I decided I didn't like the mandolin solo, so I put the fiddle back and remastered using what I believe to be much less compression. I think It's better now... But I'm starting to think I'll never believe it's just right. Anyway give this one a listen when you've got a minute & let me know what you think.

Thanks Man,

Greg

Hey Greg...how are things wayyyyyyy over there in Grand Junction (I'm in Fort Collins). There are some good things going on in this song. I like that you're a Fender player. Some credible lead stuff in there. The sax was a surprise for a country song. But it could work if you like it. It seems to play over and compete with your vocal rather than in the "holes". I didn't listen for production issues, just lyrics and instrumentation. I think you're making progress. Don't give up!

Super song, great lyrics and some very good geetar playing. I liked the sax and the fiddle parts. They were the icing on the cake.

Two thumbs up!

Hey Neighbor.
They are pretty good over here on this side of the mountains.
Thanks for your positive input. I agree with you on the problem of the sax not playing in the holes, but no matter how many time I regenerated it I could never get him to do what I really wanted.
However I did like the sax in there so I was trying to get it more behind the vocal, (so that it didn't compete) but maybe it's still a little hot.
Anyway, thanks again for your comments & take care.
Oh... And GO BRONCO'S!

Greg
