Do you replace some or all of the default sounds in your BB/RB playback ?
If so - please share the particular sounds have you replaced that you felt dramatically improved the playback, and also share the particular Vst sound / library . I realize the improvement also depends on the entire song arrangement, so you will need to share that also.
And one more question - I have a bunch of Cybermidi files where vocals play back with a really lame default sound for the vocals. Do you have a go-to sound you like to use for vocals when there is not a live singer (e.g. audio vocal) handy ?
As always - TIA

I use the coyote/TTS synths that are defaulted in BB/RB. Generally speaking, I don't replace them very often. When I replace a BB track it's often with a live track played by me. For that I use whatever synth is required for the job. For realistic "midi" driven vocals.... You need to look at Synth V and some of the voice databases it has. This is Synth V singer Solaria https://app.box.com/s/up1q4wc05cfah2zoar51ck94ziy5q2qu
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I'm not even looking for actual words - just a sound or timbre that will be closer to the vocal spectrum, if that makes sense - I recall BB/RB has new "ooh's and ahh's" - but I'm not sure they could be used in this way to easily replace a MIDI melody

Hi Joe,
I always replace the BiaB MIDI sounds with many different VSTis but mostly with Kontakt patches. I also use MIDI CCs (continuous controllers) and the pitch wheel to add nuances to those BiaB tracks. Although I do this in my DAW it can be done in BiaB.
FWIW I would check out the free versions of Kontakt and SampleTank. Both include usable sounds. Note that neither of them are GM so you will have to change the sounds one at a time via the mixer view. If you want or need a GM compatible sound source then look for a 16 channel soundfont (SF2) player with a GM sound set. There are many free SF2 GM compatible sounds available.
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

I have spent a lot of money on VI libraries over the decades. I use what I need when I need it.
The SampleTank/IKM libraries are an inexpensive, solid way to start out. I like that the Player is free and often, when there are conflicts, upgrading that free player makes everything work again. I now spend more time in the NI/Kontakt/Komplete universe but there are a few libraries in the IKM world that I really like, especially the Alan Parsons Imperial and their new Bösendorfer 200.
