Girlfriend 2.0

The sequel - a comedy blues song

If you haven't heard the original Girlfriend some of this song may not make sense.

BiaB Style - Blues 12/8 - Slow 12/8 Blues
I deleted the guitar and string tracks
Bass- Ample Bass - JII
Piano - Keys of the 70's - EP200
Drums - Seven Slates SSD5 - Classic Angry Drums

I am playing the guitar. Via my keyboard controller I am playing the Arturia B3 and via my breath and keyboard controllers I am playing the Swam trumpets 1 and 2, the alto sax, and the tenor sax. Band-in-a-Box is supplying the balance of the tracks using my sound sources.

Lyrics on SC.

As always all comments are welcomed.

Mario, ha! Well, once again you're surfing the undertow lyrically. Nicely played.

And the playing here is very nice indeed. Your MIDI controller work is ace as always, but I really like your lead guitar on this. Your instrument choices are super nice, as is the slap/reverb on your vocals. Funny and original, and a fitting sequel to your equally adventurous "Girlfriend".

Might be my ears (and my ears ARE a problem) but the bass and organ sometimes sound a touch too loud, or maybe the vocals are a little too soft. Also, the ending might decay naturally a bit more before cutting off. Just a thought. On the other hand, it all might be perfectly fine. Dang this growing old stuff...

Enjoyed your song!

A great take on the blues with original instrumentation. Once again your swamming skills are to the fore, but re this song I think you miss doing the breast stroke. laugh

Thanx Chay. I may be OK with my swamming skills but my swimming skills leave a lot to be desired, i.e. I sink like a rock!

Wow, Mario! Many folks redo old songs but ony you could make it a sequel by recreating the characters. Love this Blues stuff, man. Excellent lyrics and no one can deliver them better than you. Great taste on guitar and it's not the first time you did an amazing job bending notes with your keyboard. Depending on her taste in Snapple flavors, you should consider starting Girlfriend-Take 3. And it's not likely you'll find her in a bar.

BTW great first question. Remember when we used to have to wait to see which restroom door they opened?

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Mario,

Excellent blues - you really have a feel for this music.
I would have liked to hear your vocals a bit louder and more upfront - just my personal preference.

Really enjoyed the listen - thanks.

Best Regards
Nigel

Thanx Nigel. Singing and mixing a singer into my mixes has always been my weak spot so thanx for the suggestion, I appreciate it and that is how I learn.

Loved it! We need real good humor songs like this! Beside what everyone else said, I'll say that I thought your solo-ing was quite excellent, and the little piano riffs, not sure it they were BIAB, but also very cool.

Thanx Tom. Thanx for the "real good humor" comment. Yes those piano riffs are from the BiaB style. Like when I was playing gigs I would work around little things like that as they made the band sound a lot more professional.
