Hey Dave and Marty, This sounds really great. I'm glad you resurrected this one and gave us a new version. Everything sounds well. I'm totally impressed that you're able to somehow duplicate that guitar solo from so long ago! Every time I try and record something like this I forget what I was doing 10 minutes later!!

Cassettes in the 70s, 4 track in the 80s computers in the 2000 - I didn't get a reel to reel with SOS ability until the mid 90s when I was in a recording pause. The tech doesn't matter when the song wins out. This resurrection & re recording is excellent and more because of the song that the parts but, hey, the parts are pretty fab.

Hi, Dave. My ears like what they hear! Cool guitars, maj7th goodness... Nice. Gotta love the maj7 chord! Thanks, David. I really like the style and the song. The ending is excellent with several guitars. Laurent I used five guitar tracks for that last chord, two rhythm, three lead. Thanks, Laurent!

Excellent and full of happy vibes! We much like the harmony guitar. And we are glad Marty encouraged you to resurrect it. His bass is just right. No surprise there. Love the scenery in the vid and it so well supports the latin feel. The mix is excellent and full of dynamics. Sounds great on the monitors. Enjoyed the tech info too. Nice! J&B PS Bud wanted to mention that he took a similar recording path. Except that he began by working his way through college helping record garage bands in a small studio in the 60's.
Our albums and singles are on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and more. If interested search on Janice Merritt. Thanks! Our Videos

Nice backstory, even if the original is quite old, the song still sounds fresh. Not just because of the re-recorded parts, but the overall feel has kept its ageless message. Pleasant Latin mood, I can see you and Marty jamming together on a stadium in Rio night in front of an enthusiastic audience Great playing, the solo is really warm with lots of emotion. Marty's bass playing is like the movements of a slick Latin dancer. And those percussions are so lively... you have captured something very unique in time and place. Only thing I missed to hear were the long standing ovation by the audience. Janne

Just what the doctor ordered after a long and dark winter. Instant vacation feeling. As always, you and Marty play perfectly together. Cool noodling, great groove ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Thanks to everyone for checking out this old song, very much appreciated! Mario, the Johnson J-Station was my first amp sim too, and I still have mine. Haven't plugged it in for probably 15 years, but I'm not very good at getting rid of stuff, just ask my wife David, the solo is actually the original solo I did from 20 years ago, I didn't recreate it, just used the old track. Just needed to roll some of the highs off to make it fit in the more modern music bed.

Dave, those guitars soared! Always a great pleasure to listen to your playing. The analog days were a pain, yet Neil Young says listening to digital music is like having ice water dumped on your head. And now synth voices are taking over. Even some pretty good singers on this forum are using it. Can't believe my ears. Where will it all lead? I digress. Great track here, I love the way BIAB can set a great mood. But your guitar! Nothing will ever replace that, not even Brent Mason Realtracks.

Hi Dave.
This is excellent listening. I enjoyed the relaxed, comfortable musical journey. I can totally hear why you wanted to hang onto that solo. As others have already mentioned, this was well worth resurrecting. Kudos to Marty, too, on his bass playing.

Dave,
That was a very enjoyable listen! I really liked that cleaner sound you had on (I'm assuming) the older track you kept! It really cuts through and stands out in the mix! I'm also a big fan of your more modern tone! Marty is also doing such a marvelous job on bass. His part really is the solid foundation for your excellent performance! It's a great feel-good vibe presented in a wonderful video!
Thanks, TB
