Sentimental Slumber

A very simple song and arrangement. The Slack Key acoustic RTs are notorious for squeaks. I got most of them out - left a few of the minor ones.
It was so simple to put together because I used all the RTs and RDs that were indigenous to the style—nothing added, nothing removed. I simply typed in a very basic chord pattern and pressed the 'Generate' key. This is where it ended up after a quick master.

Hope you enjoy my three hours of effort.

Al, gee, wish *I* could be as productive in three hours! You definitely squeeze max musicality out of your soloists. Love the vibrant acoustic quality of your mix. It all sounds GREAT!

Hi, Ron ...

Thanks a bunch. Appreciate all those nice words.

I can work fairly quickly because I use a relatively simple process. As far as chords, they come to me quickly, and I can often (not always) find the RTs I want with very little "sampling". I spend a ot of time, when each new version of BIAB comes out, marking the tracks I pretty sure I'll be using quite a bit as "favorites."

That's about all i can say about my pace for my music creation.

Anyway, many thanks for the listen and kindness. Best to you,

Alan

Alan,

This is one beautiful piece of music... It's like an instrumental story. So good.

The mix is excellent - your usual high standard.

Love this!

The key to your work flow is “vision”…a sense of where you see you can take the style that catches your interest. BIAB gives you a great group of studio players..you guide them with your chord-sketching, then let them stretch out and make magic. I’m sure this same “director” approach serves you well in other creative endeavors. The result is tasteful, pleasing, satisfying!

Alan, as you well know those "simple songs" can be the hardest songs to compose and play!
Outstanding work with those RTs.
One of your best for sure.

Thanks, Vic! This is actually one of my easiest compositions in a very long time. As far as the minimal time required, I have a very simple process - no DAW. My musical skills are all self-taught. I just play what my head and heart say as the process unfolds.

I appreciate the listen and nice comments!

Hi Tano,

You are much too kind! I do start with a vision of a mood, more so than a specific melody. And yes, BIAB gives me a big toybox from which to make my choices. It's a marvelous piece of software.

Again, many thanks!

Hi Mario,

You are correct that simplicity can be difficult to achieve with a full and robust sound. It's always tempting to add something else. But this one just fell into place. I credit BIAB as much as I do myself. What a great program!

Many thanks!

Alan

Ray,

G;Day.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. The ears are what lead me -more so than numbers and expected "norms". I agree with the old adage: If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. My ears guide me with almost everything I create. I always listen for a sound I like, rather than what the meters and settings suggest.

Again, many thanks.

Alan

As Bob said, "It's like an instrumental story..."
That says it all.

That solo RT is really standout and you have it sitting so nicely on the soundstage.

We love the excellent airy/open mix with fine subtle dynamics.

Really, really good.
