I am using version 2025. I'm saving a style based the current song. I save the file in a sub folder of the standard BB Styles folder. The new style appears in the current song style box and the STY file is visible in the MyStyles folder.
My new style does not show in a search and nor is it listed in the styles available styles (even after a rebuild), I can load the style from File > Open Special but I was expecting the style picker to list it.

I'm not 100% sure of this but I have always understood that .STY files must be in \bb\styles to be read. A sub-folder in bb\styles is not picked up. That's why PG Music doesn't use sub-folders in the in the \bb\styles folder. The manual seems to support this.

[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]What about useing the "Rebuild - Slow" option. I always understood this would pick up any non-PG music styles.

Neither build option will allow the style picker to pick up the styles in a sub folder. I also agree that the the manual would apppear to imply that only the styles folder can hold styles. I'm not suree it was always that way though. Anyway, the reason I tried this was that a youtube video did exactly that.

Anyway, if it doesn't do then I'm happy enough, although it is a pretty poor way to manage user/system styles.

This is correct - subfolders in the Styles folder are not supported.

Only having one folder to recognise styles is a very poor way of allowing styles to be managed. User styles have to be lumped in with BB official styles if they are to appear on the style picker list. and leads to the requirement to load the style from the file menu and not have it appear on the Style Picker list.

It is also quite interesting that if new style is created and is then saved in a subfolder of the styles folder Styles, that style, registered in the styles panel will recognise the style in that subfolder and will complain that the stle could not be loaded if this style file is removed from the subfolder. BB itself can read from the subfolder. It seems only the Style Picker that is designed to to look for these style in single folder. This is rather perverse for a utility that is meant to list all styles.

It would be very simple, just a few short lines of recursion code, for the Style Picker to search sub-directories also.

This was not a consideration as organization of styles is intended to be done in the Stylepicker, including filtering for user styles. However I'll put in a feature request, as I can see it being useful.
