Hello, I just purchased this add-on and discovered after loading it didn't sound quite like the original sample I'd heard. I'd missed that it didn't include drums which I'd like
to have on some songs. I also get a message:
'RealDrums not found Jazz Waltz'.

PG Support said that I would need to add a drum set I like from the mixer window. I tried to do this, not really knowing which drum type would suit, but nothing happened.

I'm hoping someone can help and take me through step by step to add drums that may suit this style.

TIA

Be more specific. What style did you actually load.

And what BIAB package do you have (Pro, Ultra, etc and what year)?

And what add-ons did you purchase?

And as above, what style are we talking about?

With some detail, I’m sure we can help.

I loaded up the demo files for all 4 styles that come set 28.

All 4 of the styles use RealDrums=JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride

The 4 styles avaliable are:

_JWLZ_BG.sty
_JWLZ_BP.STY
_JWLZ_GAS.STY
_JWLZ_PRT.STY

The drums that are default with those styles load and play perfectly for all 4 demo songs.
In your mixer window, do you show RealDrums=JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride as your drum style for each style?

See all 4 attachments.

Yes they play in the demo but not in your song. How to add drums is in my next message.

To add drums to these styles just right click on the drum label, left click on find a drum sub, then pick a drum kit. This will replace the non-working drums with ones that work; see pic.

I hope this helps and good luck.

If you create a new song with a blank chord sheet with either of the 4 styles that come in set #28, the drum track is automatically populated with JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride

You should not have to manually add the drum track.

You need to let us know the actual scenario you is encountering with this quick test.

FoxTerrier do the following and let us know the results.

Open up BIAB and start a new song and make the style _JWLZ_BP.STY. You don't need to add chords at this point.

1. Is the drum track populated with JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride? If so is it colored green and is it playing when you start the single chord song? Under normal circumstances the answer should be YES

or

2. Is the drum track NOT populated with JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride.

That is exactly what I did, i.e. blank chord sheet. The dot left of the drums was dark (it might be black but I am partially colorblind) and no drums were playing, even when soloed.

If this is working for you then the problem might be at my end.

Yesterday I tried a manual add-on to an existing song through the mixer. This worked, great, but after saving it and trying later I got an error message.
'RealDrums not found Style Jazz Brushes Waltz

Joseph Land:
Today I tried your advice on a new song . The Drums in the mixer show ** N/A** RealDrums= Jazz Brushes.

There were also the att. messages

I have activated the rebuild which made no difference.

Further suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I just tried it again with a new blank song that used the old default ZZJAZZ.STY (Jazz Swing Style) so only midi was populated in the drum track. I then chose the style _JWLZ_BG.STY (Medium Jazz Waltz w/ Guitar) and the mixer was automatically populated with the followng:

RealTracks in style: ~546:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Waltz Sw 140
RealTracks in style: ~549:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Jazz Waltz Sw 140
RealDrums in style:JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride

The drums played correctly.

****** Song Summary *************
Title: Untitled Song
Key=C , Tempo 140, Length (m:s)=0:46
No intro. 32 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 32. Repeat x1 chorus
No Melody
No Soloist track.
Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Style is _JWLZ_BG.STY (Medium Jazz Waltz w/ Guitar)

RealTracks in style: ~546:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Waltz Sw 140
RealTracks in style: ~549:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Jazz Waltz Sw 140
RealDrums in style:JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride

FoxTerrier: Verify the following for us.

1. You should have a directory listed at C:\bb\drums named JazzBrushesWaltz. That is where BIAB will be looking for that particular drum for that style. Check the Memo on that style and that will show you what should be automatically loaded for either of the 4 styles in set # 28. Either of those 4 styles will be looking for the RealDrums as listed in #3 below and is expecting to find them there, otherwise I am assuming that is why you are getting the NA in the mixer.
2. If you do have that directory where it should be, you should have around 40 files there including BT0 files, WMA files, MGU files and TXT files.
3. In your preferences under Preferences, RealDrums the screen should look like this screen shot. Keep in mind that my BIAB is on a "D" drive. If yours is on the "C" drive it will have a "C" drive path at the top right showing so. See my screen shot.

You can always revert to factory settings to see if that clears your problem.

Joseph, as the OP had issues and I had the same problem I had just assumed it was a universal issue; I know assume got me in trouble again! However the drums worked for you so it must have been my system. After a return to factory reset everything is back to normal and yes the drums do work in those styles.

Note I have no idea what went wrong but I should have tried the return to factory prior to posting - my bad.

No problem on that. I have used the RTFS myself over the years when nothing else helped. I do actually really enjoy trying to solve these types of problems. Helps keep my brain active.

Appreciate the ongoing advice.

I've removed original downloads, reloaded, rebuilt, and also tried RTF. As yet no luck with the missing drum brushes. Screenshots att. have I missed something - what can I try next?

Thanks.

Have you done a slow rebuild of the styles? Don't do a fast rebuild.

You seem to be missing quite a lot of files in those screenshots. For example I am not seeing MidiStyle set #0 which is a basic style set that comes with every single BIAB package since day one. With the screen shot you sent, I cant tell if you have the scroll bar down towards the bottom or not. Since you are using BIAB Pro 2023 version, I would think that you should have more midi styles installed then what I am seeing. Send another screen shot with the entire screen shown. There should not be that many Midi Styles Sets (Not Shown) showing up. Something just does not look right.

The problem is that I am not sure what PGMusic supplied in the ProPak, since is the just the basic program. I would be calling them up on Monday to find out what MIDI Style sets were included in the 2023 Pro version, not that that's your problem but it looks strange to me. Your screen shot shows MIDI Sets #63,70 and 86 found but NOT #4,5,6,8 and who knows what else that is not showing up in the screen shot.

Also, did you run the BIAB Cleanup Routine? That file is BB_Cleanup.exe and is in the BB\Data directory.
