Bye Bye Blackbird, music by Ray Henderson, lyrics by Mort Dixon. It was published in 1926 by Jerome Remick. This song entered public domain in 2022. I was listening to Keith Jarrett play this the other day and really liked the alternate chord changes he used. So... I used the standard changes on the melody and used Keith Jarretts alternate changes for the solo section. Enjoy!

Key- F Major. Tempo- quarter note=200.

This was recorded with Logic Pro 11. Video was edited with Final Cut Pro. I am using Band In A Box Ultrapak 2024 for Mac.

Memo: Medium jazz swing with bright and energetic brushes performed by Danny Gottlieb. Ron Carter plays acoustic bass and Kenny Barron is on piano. -Examples: All Of Me, Genre "Intensity" Score=30/100
_CUPAJOE.STY. Cuppa Joe Medium Jazz Swing
All RealTracks. Trio. Tempo=140 (120-165)
Instruments: Ac.Bass, Ac.Piano, Drums
RD: JAZZSWINGDANNYBRUSHES: a: Brushes, HiHat b: Brushes, OpenHiHat :Danny Gottlieb
RT2285: Bass, Acoustic, JazzSwingRonA-B Sw 140 , Ron Carter
RT2289: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm JazzSwingKenny Sw 140 , Kenny Barron
Piano solo is RT 4481:Piano, Acoustic, Soloist JazzFastRH 190

This was a fun one to record and play.

Really nicely done, Steve. I enjoyed the combination of chord changes. One comment about your description on YouTube. Condenser mics DO require phantom power. Dynamic and ribbon mics don't. Your Sennheiser 441 is a dynamic mic, which I think is what you meant to say.

Steve, love your arrangement and SUPER playing. BiaB has some great jazz tracks, and you've done a nice job putting the band together. Cool video, and awesome t-shirt. Great job!

Good catch! I posted the video late in the evening and was pretty tired. Again, thanks for letting me know.

Thanks! I love that old Metheny Unity Band shirt. It's gotten a lot of wear. I wonder if he still has some for sale... gonna have to check his website.

PS - I saw Pat Metheny with Joshua Redmen, Christian McBride and Jack DeJohnette. What a fantastic show. They were so in the pocket and jamming that they were told to take a break so the venue could sell its stuff!

Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Hello, Steve. Bye-Bye Bllackbird. Keith jarret was a sensational drummer back in the day at the Deer Head. His Koln concert double album is still one of my all-time favorites. Man, you so this song justice, Steve. Soaringly sweet in timber and taste. Excellent arangement.

Enjoy whatever happens!
