Wow, that opening makes me wanna grab a pole and cast my lot enjoying the day with you. So, yeah, very inviting song for sure. Man, I dig that sax solo. So fine floating above the waves of this cool breeze of a song. At first I was taking aback (never a good or bad thing) when I heard your vocal come back to center, but quickly found it rather intriqueing (--also never good or bad).

Lovely Bossa TM - cool sax and lyrics, better wihout the vocal auto-panning in my view?
Your vocal sounded really full & warm for the first 42 secs - to my ears that suits this song really well!

Re the vocal pan problem…I thought I could go back in today and quickly fix it, but since I rebuilt my entire system a few weeks ago, I see now that my “quick touch” would require some minor reconstruction, which I will eventually do, but not today. Sorry to have let this glaring mix problem make it through.

Regarding the lyrics…I really enjoy camping in western NC, but the whole story got started because I already had the melody done. I kept hearing a potential match with “a (blank-blank) sky”, but was getting nothing. Then I happened to be thinking about Spokane, where I lived for many years—it’s called “The Lilac City”..click! The lyric story came from that. I worried a little that there is no such thing as a sky that is lilac-colored, but the phrase was too good to not use it.

Fantastic write and nice smooth jazz feel. Super use of BiaB instruments in a super arrangement. Like your vocals a lot, but I'd lose (or reduce) the doubling since it's more of a pop styling than jazz. Great job!

I'm a fan of bossa nova, so I enjoyed your song. Only the sound of the vocals in refrain disturbed me. Was there some kind of phase problems? Sounded like a flanger or comb filter effect.
Did you play your self that wondeerful sax solo?

I agree the vocals need fixing. Also you may consider turning down the volume of the sax but only in the fills, not the solo.

Great song - not the least bit unusual for you.
Almost any song in Bossa Nova will get my attention. And this particular song is a good example of why. The softness and gentleness of your vocal delivery caresses the ears.
A personal opinion: I would bring the bass more forward in the mix (louder)..Nonetheless, it was a wonderful listen.

What a beautiful song title inviting me to listen to it. Love the lyrics, the awe of nature and blossoming love. The bossa style fits perfectly well, your emotional voice soars and that sax... such a wonderful addition to the tune, excellent playing. Pure heartwarming beauty in its simplicity.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
