Hi there! Please excuse if this question answered anywhere else (but a search didn't reveal it). I am inserting bars into an existing song (MGU) with a melody and solo. The bars are inserted but the melody is not shifted i.e. the melody now exists in my new bars. Is this a bug or is there a preference setting I am meant to change?

I just did some experimenting with inserting bars, and yes, the Melody track says at the same location. It is not moved when inserting bars.
Edit > Copy Special > Copy From .. To .. might work for you.

It's not directly related but that post is making me think it's indirectly related (separate handling of Melodist and Soloist tracks). I've been using BIAB since 2000 and have always input melody and solo notation by hand, and I'm 'pretty sure' I have been able to insert bars and it has the effect of creating the insert on all tracks i.e. it nudges melody and soloist over the number of inserted bars as well. I've noticed recently when getting back into BIAB again that this has popped up. If Melodist and Soloist are handled separately, it would seem I have to use the Edit > Nudge option - which I've never had to use before.
I am currently on Band-in-a-Box® for Windows Version 2024 (1113) 64 bit.
As Audiotrack has pointed out, the Melody and Soloist tracks are treated differently. The insert/delete bars only applies to the chord sheet. The way I always move the melody is shown on the image attached.
It's possible to insert/delete beats. To use this, simply click on the bar where the melody needs adjusting and then either insert or delete beats. It is also possible to use ticks to change the melody's position. If you use this option, keep in mind that (a) 1 x 1/4 note = 120 ticks and (b) that +values move right while –values move left. So if I want to move my melody 2x1/4 notes left, I would enter –240 in the timeshift dialogue.
I hope this helps. --Noel
P.S. Audiotrack's solution is an excellent one, too. This will allow you to copy a region of the melody and move it to somewhere else in the track.
