This was by AudioTrack, but I reckon it's now the wee small hours for him, so I'll post in his stead...

Yes, some form of block diagram showing the inter-connectivity of the various components and signal paths would really assist to articulate the interaction and take away a lot of confusion.

This could be a simple block diagram, not necessarily complex, just something that shows where MIDI enters BIAB and where BIAB processes it and then sends it to, as well as how Audio is received and the relevant path(s) it follows.

(Great suggestion, Gordon, I like it wink )

Great minds think alike smile
This is a great idea. And if needed I can build the diagram; I just need someone to describe the signal paths.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

It would need to be a dynamic diagram / flow chart, as different users use different MIDI interfaces, Audio interfaces etc.

+1 for MIDI and Audio signal path through Band-in-a-Box flow.

However this is only 1/2 of equation. You should be able to route things too. Like Midi plugin to a sound producing VSTi for example. Chain.

Agreed, this would be the most ideal, but that might have to be version 2.
As background, I suggested this to one of the very senior developers at PG Music quite a few years ago, and the reply was that it was a good idea, but they weren't sure how to achieve it.

To do this right it has to have routing, otherwise it's just a facade .... For such complex software as BIAB, routing and visualizing what you are doing is needed. Ironically, some stuff you can re-route, some don't.

P.S. Something similar to VST router "Element".

I'm not debating that. However it is better to have something rather than nothing. At least initially.

In my experience, once "something" is out it is extremely hard to convince to finish it the right way. My point is, that even if this (routing map of signals) will be considered, a thought should be given how easy it would be to add re-routing options, so all the efforts to make that map will not have to go to waste, and could be used as foundation for something bigger.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?
