Microchords are not 'all on the beat'.
If the time signature is 4/4, then there are 4 beats to the bar, and each beat is worth one one quarter note. Yes?
Micro-chords should allow you to position a chord at any one of 16 locations on a bar with a 4/4 time signature. Granted, the results might not always be ideal.
