Hope everyone doesn't mind a repost from six years ago. This is the first song I ever submitted to the forum. I used Realstyle BALFRED and added tenor sax soloist 937. Chris Weeks of fiverr sang. The lyrics are below:

All that she told me was one little word,
That which she goes by, is known in this world,
That's all I needed, to take her in, savoring the sips,
Cause I got the taste, the taste of her name on my lips.

I know that she'll have a lot more to say,
Next time I see her, maybe today,
I could feel voltage pass through our fingertips,
Exciting the taste, the taste of her name on my lips.

Since the beginning, it's been this way,
Man and a woman, sparked from the clay,
And I've heard of warriors, launching a thousand ships,
All for the taste, the taste of her name on their lips.

I don't recall hearing this one before, Bob, might have missed it the first time.

You do this type of music so well, it's like stepping back in time with both the lyrics and music.

Excellent vocal, really like the sax too.

Nicely done!

Bob,

This is a great song and great mix. I agree with Dave, you have a real feel for this style of music.

Much enjoyed.

Your song is well worth sharing the pleasure of hearing it again. Nice and period correct lyrics, great choice in the singer you selected and the production and total performance are excellent. I enjoyed this.

"Slinky" is the word I was looking for. "Silky" too.
It's an old style but with a modern vocal.
Good work.

I don't know your original version, but this one is a real treat, beautifully and unobtrusively arranged with a really good selection of instruments, and you've found the perfect singer for this genre.
Really well done!

Great song, Bob! I grew up in the late 40s and 50s. I heard a lot of songs similar to this back then - my mom was a great singer and would sing songs like this as she worked. She watched all the old movies from back then - particularly the musicals. And I loved it! So, this brought back a lot of great memories. Made me melancholy for a while. She died in 1012 at 90 years old.

Everything about this is wonderful. Great arrangement and mix. Lyric is pretty darn good, too! I thoroughly enjoyed my listen - didn't hear the original post, but this one hit marek square in the center.

Best to you,

Alan

I like how you “sat” on your initial chord for the entire first two lines of the lyric…this and the simple instrumentation, and slow tempo, really lets you unravel the meaning of your title for the listener at a comfortable pace. I have used fiverr for live vocalists, and I like your choice here. Had you worked with him before, or just searched the options until you found the sound you wanted? Enjoyed this as morning broke on a quiet Sunday.

Hi Bob,

Great song and excellent backing. I also really liked Chris Weeks' vocals - very tuneful and lovely timbre - reminds me of Harry Connick Jnr.

Best Regards
Nigel

Man, this song is so repeatable, Bob. Love those changes and the smokey feel. I see that sax player in shadow off to the side in this black and white scene. Excellent band and a thoroughly enjoyable mix. Does Fevvr have a Sinatra? Man, I can hear him doing it. I can hear Lena Horne and Phil Woods doing this one too with a quick modification of the lyric. They are excellent lyrics that fit the period so well. Brillinatly done, Bob!

Enjoy whatever happens!

I am a fan of this style. Very intimate, sobriety and sensitivity. So that is enough to make me have a good time.

Great period vibe in this. I've been watching a lot of old b/w movies of late and this song would fit in many of them as a part of the soundtrack.

Bob, very tuneful in the classic and timeless style of...a different time. Super arrangement, and the BiaB instruments sound great. Like the vocals and the dry-ish FX chain you used. A very beautiful and satisfying tune.

The Fiver singer is perfect for this

Love the video and Janice recognized every scene (and now wants to rewatch several of those classics!)

Lovely song in every way -- simply an excellent cool small club jazz vibe.

Enjoyed it!

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. Especially Mario. Thank you, Mario. With the utmost modesty, I agree with you. I think this is the best I've done. I'm especially happy with the lyric. Thanks again to all!

Bob,

This song is perfect for the video.
It's a wonderful piece that evokes the jazz songs of the 1940s.
It's very moody and tasty.
Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.

Best regards.
