Thank you all for your time and advice. Win 7 it is. I checked out New XP PCs and they are no cheaper than others. Win 7 does seem the only way for us. I believe large groups from Hospitals (medical transcription and billing) to our Library system may not be changing simply because of the cost. Also moving up to Win 7 64bit is the only way to extend the life of our computing.
I'm sold on Win 7.
I'm just amazed at the higher prices right now for PCs. Besides myself, I know a lot of people who won't buy. Prices are much higher than earlier this year. We still can't find any $500.00 Desktop that meets our needs and the few people I know that have new machines bought in the $1000 and up price range. Then again my 2007 XP macine was over $1000.
I did read that there will be price cuts this fall because of very low sales.
